Those are difficult questions to answer. If by first movie, do you mean the first narrative film released to the public or the first thing ever put to film? And color has been around since the beginning of film; films used to be tinted a certain color, usually to indicate a different time of day or a different place, or just for artistic reasons. So do you mean the first film released using Technicolor, or a similar technology?

Well, the first copyrighted film was an Edison short, I think of a man sneezing or pretending to sneeze. There were things shot before that, but I think it is disputed whether the Lumiere bros or Edison shot them first. Though I could be wrong.

Not sure about the first color film. Again, I think it was a bunch of people at once who came up with their own ideas on how to do it.
