Steve Austin and Vince McMahon will announce this Wednesday in Hollywood, California that the two sides have come to terms for a three movie deal for the former WWF champion with WWE Films.

WWE Chairman Vince McMahon and legendary superstar Stone Cold Steve Austin will be on hand this coming Wednesday January 18 to announce their agreement for a three-picture deal under the WWE Films™ banner. WWE Films will produce and fully finance the films under the supervision of Joel Simon, President of WWE Films. Most recently, Steve wrapped a supporting role in The Longest Yard, starring Adam Sandler and directed by Peter Segal, scheduled for release by Paramount later this year.

Stone Cold Steve Austin's first project for WWE Films will be The Condemned™, written by Rob and Andrew Hedden. The film will be executive produced by Vince McMahon and George Vrabeck. The film will be produced by Joel Simon in association with Sidestreet/New Wave Entertainment. The story deals with a cop on death-row who is given a second chance when chosen to compete on a deadly reality show. Pursued by ruthless killers, his survival and the key to his freedom depend on him surviving long enough to take down the one person responsible for putting him behind bars.

Aside from the Stone Cold Steve Austin deal, WWE Films, will produce and fully finance another two to four films a year. The first film out of the gate is The Marine™, currently in post-production in Los Angeles after wrapping production on location Queensland, Australia. The film stars and marks the motion picture debut of WWE SmackDown! ™ Superstar John Cena (currently seen every Thursday night on WWE's Smackdown! on UPN from 8:00pm-10:00pm EST.), and co-stars with Robert Patrick (Terminator 2, Ladder 49) and Kelly Carlson (Nip/Tuck).

WWE Films is also in post-production on the tentatively titled Goodnight™, starring WWE RAW® Superstar Kane®, also making his motion picture debut. The film is described as an intense horror movie with a unique and unusual setting. WWE RAW Superstar Kane can currently be seen every Monday night on WWE Monday Night RAW live on Spike from 9:00pm-11:00pm EST.

Now if they can only get Austin back on RAW, everything would be one step to being better.

Too bad the condemned sounds too much like Running Man.

The should wait and see how "The Marine" (John Cena's film) and "Goodnight" (Kane's film) perform before they dump too many more millions into their side projects.

Hmm. I enjoy the occasional wrestling match, but besides The Rock, wrestler movies don't have much of a good track record. We shall see...that plot description sounds far from being good.

To Austin's credit, his role in Nash Bridges was pretty decent, although not a stretch of his character. They even came as close as a spin off. He's not as bad as HHH in Pacific Blue or Blade Trinity. I think Austin can do ok to carry a movie as long as it's within his character range.

Steve Austin? What about Jamie Summer?

I agree Austin could do a decent job in an acting role, I'm just not so sure that he'll get put into a good movie. Let's hope so...The Rock has been somewhat discriminating in his role choice and has been in decently entertaining stuff so far.

If the banner is WWE films, I'm surprised that their first few features don't focus on HHH. ;)

When I read the plot for The Condemned I was thinking... The Running Man.

WWE Films will probably last as long as the still own The Rock. I also think Cena and Austin will be good actors... But Triple H & Kane, not a chance.

Just what the film world needs, more wrestler movies. -rolleyes- If giving Cena and Kane a movie wasn't bad enough. How bad can it get.

i think this answers the "How Bad Can It Get?" question by Terrell.

I don't want to see wrestlers in movies unless its a movie about wrestling (and even then i really don't want to see it.)

I see some direct to video sales on this one.....might get one theatrial release to start....tanks....direct to video....makes money....and so on

Honestly, I agree wrestlers in movies in general is a bad idea. Wrestling is truly a unique thing...the fighting isn't quite realistic, so that doesn't really translate well, and the acting on that show is basically over the top silliness, which can be very entertaining in its respective show, but doesn't really fly in a more traditional action film.

The exception is The Rock, who was so popular because he really is rather charasmatic and seems to be more than just an angry white guy. He's got potential to be a movie star, the rest...well, some could be nice as supporting roles in movies (I could see Stone Cold doing that, Princess Bride worked well with Andre) and others (like HHH) should just stay away from acting period. They Live is, I suspect, just an anomaly.

Vince and Stone Cold are both gonna be on "The Best Damn Sports Show Period" tomorrow.

I have no problem with wrestlers in movies. How many other pro athletes, football especially, have ventured into movies? Hell, Ah-nold was a professional bodybuilder who went on to become the biggest movie star in the world, and he certainly is not a great, or even average, actor.
I can definitely see Austin in a low budget action flick, I think he's got talent enough for that. Piper has been in quite a few decent flicks that not many people have heard of, let alone seen.
However, any wrestler that makes a movie already has two strikes against him because of comparisons to the turds that Hogan made.

And don't worry Dr. DVD, you can bet your mortgage payment that Haitch will get his own starring flick soon enough.

I'm highly doubtful of that, even though I agree he's the most charismatic. Judging by the box office takes of his movies, it's doubtful anyone other than wrestling fans really care about seeing him in films. He's not terrible, but he basically plays the Rock character in the films.
