You think just chucking $200 million and all the spinoffs already shooting based on this story (like Batgirl for HBO Max) is the... smart... thing to do? Gotta disagree. Like has already been said, the release date is way down the road. This will most likely blow over. Or at the least you just switch out the ending. There's no way they just go 'meh, we don't need to release this kbye'. They have plans for Keaton in Batgirl and this movie needs to be out there to bring him back. The minor current PR stuff will belong gone from the news cycle before release date.

We can agree this is a bit messy and they need to consider some options. But just throwing the whole finished project away is not one of them.

Sure it is - it's just a numbers game. Will they take too much of a hit from a PR perspective (there's a ton of time for Ezra to fuck up again) or sink millions into cobbling together a reshot Frankenstein of a film (which never works), or take the tax hit and work Keaton's Batman into the next Shazaam or something instead? Someone is doing that math for them right now.

And they can launch Batgirl without the Flash. I think the only reason anyone was excited about this movie was because of Keaton's involvement so just work him into something else rather than trying to polish this PR turd.

Miller's public meltdown or not, I'm still very much looking forward to the movie Throwing the movie out entirely at this point is foolish.

Not if the star because a huge liability to said movie.

I want to be clear that I don't think they should do this now. But if Miller's behavior continues to deteriorate to the point where they are trying to figure out how to fanwank their way through digitally replacing him or reshooting huge chunks to cobble something together, they should just call it. There's no way that would be good and the DCEU needs it to be good.

My prediction: With all of the "multiverse" mania sweeping through Hollywood right now, the MCU and DCEU are going to become confusing shitshows over the next few years. Probably other genre franchises like Star Trek and Star Wars as well.

It might be ideal though. Wrap up the series before burnout sets in and make a movie every few years. Sounds like a solid plan to make a hefty payday every few years.

Maybe Warner should sell the rights to Marvel for $100 million and a percentage of future movies.

Sounds like Miller is battling some serious mental health issues. I hope he finds some kind of treatment. I always thought a better use of Keaton would be a 3rd movie in the Burton universe with Keaton playing old Bruce Wayne and mentoring a younger Batman. (Whether Terry McGinnis or not). I'll still watch this, but the premise seemed like an odd fit and kind of a waste of bringing back Keaton to the role.

While I'm not advocating for a reshoot, it worked fine for All the Money in the World and Army of the Dead, it wasn't the lead though, who had to be replaced.

Regarding reshoots, isn't Miller in fact playing TWO characters in this? Was the other Flash actually a different actor that looks strikingly like Miller? I know the character's on set actor simply looked like Miller, but couldn't tell for certain in the trailer if they did a face swap so Miller appeared as 2 people.

If so, time to swap them the other way...

^ I don’t think that guy looks like Ezra Miller but I did spend the whole time watching Eternals thinking it was the kid from Ready Player One.

Guess what?

Miller arrested again

The guy needs help. Either WB works to get him the help he needs or they cut ties with him. He's a cancer for any film right now.

I think the bigger question is why the fuck is this guy in Hawaii for so long?

Variety has more details now. Apparently it was second degree assault.

I'm laughing at the idea of him doing these things then thinking he can just run away really really fast from the cops and failing.

Re: The Flash (2023, D: Muschietti) - S: Miller, Keaton and Affleck

Seriously wondering what’s going to happen with this film now. Two arrests in less than a month. Discovery just took over and I’m sure aren’t happy with this.

Do they look at actually recasting and reshooting and dumping Ezra? Obviously he/she has some serious issues and needs help, but is worth it to keep them on board a major film in the starring role?

There is no chance they recast the role. The film is in the can. My guess any hope of a Flash 2 is out the window, no matter how good it does.
