Sharon Stone had a bunch of small parts until B.I. hit big. After that, every movie that she's headlined has bombed. She's made a career of showing up at parties and award shows. She always was a lousy actress, but now she's really scraping the bottom with this.

The only film I have ever liked her in besides BI was Total Recall. The only reason Casino isn't on my favorites list is her. I thought she brought that movie down a few notches.

I disagree, her character was what brought down the movie a few notches for me and why I don't consider it as good as Goodfellas(though very few movies are even close). I thought she did a good job acting the character though.

yeah, i thought she was very good in Casino, she was decent in Totall Recall and a couple other films but mainly she did garbage movies after that so its tough to say. the tv trailer i saw for BI2 looked like something out of 'Hot Shots Part Deux' with the huge black box (no pun intended) over Sharons uncrossed legs..

With the right director, Sharon can turn in a decent performance. She's just made some bad career choices by the projects she's chosen. I did enjoy her quite a bit in "The Quick and the Dead" (good film overall), "Diabolique" (guilty pleasure for sure), "Casino" (great film) and "Broken Flowers" (ditto).

Why are they even bothering to release this in theaters? Just release the Unrated Edition DVD to begin with.

That first trailer looked like an Unrated promo reel.

Because it was initially made to be a first rate theatrical release, instead of an secondary Direct to Video B movie. Most definitely, there will be an Unrated Version of this movie for the DVD release in the near future.

Just FYI, that's gotta be his most positive 1.5 star rating ever, an interesting read.

It would have been okay if the film was about 30-45 minutes shorter, and if the leading male had any amount of fire and charisma within him, but he's such a blank, and he had so many scenes that I overheard people sighing at how stale, slow and boring the film was as it dragged on and on.

I give it 1 star, or a grade of D.

I thought Sharon Stone was very good in Total Recall and Casino, but that's about it. Basic Instinct gave her that five minutes of A-list fame. I think it's offensive that Sharon Stone is supposedly not hot anymore, even though she looks fantastic for 48.

S.Stone while a bad actress she was Casino and imo was the best in the film acting wise, she played the gold diggin bitch to perfection, she won Oscar for that right?or nominated at least.

Where was the sex, there was practically no sex in this film? The ending was awful. I would not let michael canton-jones near any film property of mine. The film was not terrible, it was actually okay but it was not basic instinct without any sex in it. Like the jackal also directed by canton-jones, bi2 focuses on the wrong character. the jackal, bruce willis, is the interesting character not richard gere, fake irishman, once again canton-jones focuses on david morissey when we are really interested in catherine trammell, sharon stone, and the ending to both films is terrible. bi2 ending is terrible. No sex, terrible ending.

they probably had to cut some of the sex out for the R rating.

I think Basic Instinct (the original) really is a modern classic. It takes Vertigo, scrambles it all up, throws in some sex, great camera work, and viola, you have a modern classic.

I agree with Sabre - what really lets the film down is the focus on Morrissey's character, when Stone is much more interesting. Unfortunately Morrissey is as dull as ditchwater. It wasn't too bad but nowhere near as good as the first film, very dumbed down and like a DTV sequel. The ending was crap, whereas the first film was well made and very slick and clever, considering its genre. The director and performances lifted it (Basic Instinct 1) above the norm IMO.

I third the emotion. The lack of suspense entirely, made the movie played more like a drama, rather than a thriller. If another leading actor was chosen for the role instead of David Morrissey with more charisma on film, then it would have been a better movie.

I agree. Besides, he was not the least bit attractive either.
