I was thinking the same thing.

Well, every advance screening my theatre's had has sold out. I doubt this will flop. It does look terrible in my opinion, but what else are families going to go see this Thanksgiving? Alexander? No.

The Incredibles? No?
The Polar Express? No?
The Spongebob Squarepants Movie? No?
National Treasure? No?
Seed of Chucky? No?

I wish Chris Columbus (the film's screenwriter) would stay the fuck out of the motion picture industry. Seriously, outside of the Home Alone flicks and Adventures In Babysitting; he's done nothing that great and I still wonder who he blew to get the first two Harry Potter jobs.

The Grisham book this was based on was a big hit with readers.

I don't think I need to see the movie, they show the whole thing in the previews, right down to the ending.

Also, what's with the increase in screenings for movies? This one had THREE screenings in my town... the one I ran was at capacity, and we turned away about 40 people.

3 Screenings? That's nothing.

I've seen movies have upwards of 10 screenings here in Vancouver.

Being dragged to this later today by the family. Hopefully it's not too sappy.

Describing the film as coal is doing injustice to our overworked energy-giving friend. 'Kranks' is more like eggnog spiked with Drano, presented in a way in which all the joy is sucked out of the season, leaving depression in its wake, in place of holiday spice."

The previews look like the film is just a mess and the reviews reflect that.

if you want a Christmas movie with an edge, go rent "The Ref".

It's under 10% fresh on Rotten Tomatoes, I think.

Or last year's Bad Santa.

3% last time I checked (just early this morning, with 77 reviews in). Bummer, I had hopes for this being a Tim Allen movie. I have traditionally liked his movies, but completely skipped on Joe Somebody and will certainly skip this one. Maybe I will go and watch Galaxy Quest again to remind me what a good Tim Allen movie is like.

Saw it to indulge the parents (just Mom, actually). Contrived to say the least. A few laughable parts, but nothing original in them whatsoever. I wanted to see Alexander, but my parents can't stand Oliver Stone and we didn't really have three hours to kill.

Avoid this if you can.
