Only a few more days, can't wait!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

FinkPish 11-20-04 06:44 PM

You make me sad.

Ketamine 11-20-04 07:19 PM

The book was good. Haven't heard the same being said of the movie though.

duff beer 11-20-04 07:47 PM

xmas w/thecracks!!!!!!!

Mr. Cinema 11-20-04 09:53 PM

I wonder if Tim Allen is trying to set the record for most Christmas movies ever appeared in by an actor.

scott shelton 11-20-04 10:11 PM

Sweet Jesus, this movie is the pits.

I trust anybody who caught the film tonight at the national sneak felt the same way?

Wow. Just appaling. If Joe Roth didn't fund his own directorial choices, nobody else would.

If you hate the holidays and laughs, this movie is for you.

PopcornTreeCt 11-20-04 11:24 PM

I'll be Skipping Christmas with the Kranks.

See, what I did there. I amaze myself sometimes. :)

Jackskeleton 11-21-04 12:19 AM

I was thinking the same thing.

Flynn 11-21-04 01:48 AM

Well, every advance screening my theatre's had has sold out. I doubt this will flop. It does look terrible in my opinion, but what else are families going to go see this Thanksgiving? Alexander? No.

The Incredibles? No?
The Polar Express? No?
The Spongebob Squarepants Movie? No?
National Treasure? No?
Seed of Chucky? No?

I wish Chris Columbus (the film's screenwriter) would stay the fuck out of the motion picture industry. Seriously, outside of the Home Alone flicks and Adventures In Babysitting; he's done nothing that great and I still wonder who he blew to get the first two Harry Potter jobs.

The Grisham book this was based on was a big hit with readers.

majorjoe23 11-21-04 01:25 PM

I don't think I need to see the movie, they show the whole thing in the previews, right down to the ending.

GuessWho 11-21-04 07:16 PM

<--big fan of the book but will hold off on this till it hits the cheapie theater

Do ya normally go to a movie like this for the surprises?

He want to "own" the holiday season, much like Will Smith wants to "own" the forth of July weekend :)

ShagMan 11-23-04 02:59 PM

Well, I'm gonna blow the curve, and say that I really liked it... *goes for cover*

Also, what's with the increase in screenings for movies? This one had THREE screenings in my town... the one I ran was at capacity, and we turned away about 40 people.

Mark McLeod 11-23-04 08:01 PM

3 Screenings? That's nothing.

I've seen movies have upwards of 10 screenings here in Vancouver.

Dr. DVD 11-24-04 09:40 AM

Being dragged to this later today by the family. Hopefully it's not too sappy.

scott shelton 11-24-04 11:11 AM

Ebert

review

"The movie is not funny, ever, in any way, beginning to end. It's a colossal miscalculation."

Film Jerk

review

"With every holiday season, there must be a lump of coal. 'Christmas with the Kranks' is that lump of coal. No, scratch that. Describing the film as coal is doing injustice to our overworked energy-giving friend. 'Kranks' is more like eggnog spiked with Drano, presented in a way in which all the joy is sucked out of the season, leaving depression in its wake, in place of holiday spice."

riley_dude 11-24-04 02:04 PM

The previews look like the film is just a mess and the reviews reflect that.
Poor Jamie Lee.

if you want a Christmas movie with an edge, go rent "The Ref".

Patman 11-24-04 06:15 PM

It's under 10% fresh on Rotten Tomatoes, I think.

Or last year's Bad Santa.

3% last time I checked (just early this morning, with 77 reviews in). Bummer, I had hopes for this being a Tim Allen movie. I have traditionally liked his movies, but completely skipped on Joe Somebody and will certainly skip this one. Maybe I will go and watch Galaxy Quest again to remind me what a good Tim Allen movie is like.

Dr. DVD 11-25-04 09:34 AM

Saw it to indulge the parents (just Mom, actually). Contrived to say the least. A few laughable parts, but nothing original in them whatsoever. I wanted to see Alexander, but my parents can't stand Oliver Stone and we didn't really have three hours to kill.

Avoid this if you can.
