I did love Planes, Trains And Autos, but I thought he rarely hit his stride in the movies he did----whereas some of his SCTV stuff is sheer comic brilliance, IMO.

But, esp. now that I have the SCTV collections, all movie moments pale to any single William B. or Johnny La Rue moment. Those were sublime....

I do too.
I looked up John Candy on imdb.com. It's been 10 years since he passed away.
On a side note, he is listed has a voice on a new show - The Magic 7 . Or is imdb.com screwed up.

I miss him as much as I miss Phil Hartman. Actually, more.
Last week I picked up Brewster's Millions in Wal*Mart's bargain bin.
What a shame both of the stars are essentially gone.

I have a friend who knew him... Candy was convinced he was going to die young because of family history... He actually lived longer than he expected to!
Two of my favorite Candy performances that haven't been mentioned so far: "Ox" in Stripes ("A lean, mean, fighting machine") and "Freddie Bauer" in Splash ("Penthouse printed my letter...")

Not to be the cold hearted bastard but to be honest no. There are very few artist who I miss. I really doubt John Candy would have done much more than say Dan Ackroyd (SP) is doing now. I did enjoy him in almost everything he did though.

For me, PT&A will always be his bestest movie. I haven't seen all of his stuff but that's easily my favorite.
One small role that he had that I always loved too was Vacation... "I'm tellin'!"
