well, Elfman is a very talented composer. I'm not sure why anyone would expect another Batman soundtrack, his style is pretty far removed from the Batman sound today. Granted he is overused, but Burton has only made one film without him. They're a great match, and I'm happy to see them continue. I'm just hoping for a return to Elfman's more thematic style, rather than his more nuderscore style he seems to like these days.

You're not the only one. I haven't been impressed by an Elfman score since A Simple Plan's in '98. Since then he's been doing serviceable but forgettable work in stuff like Big Fish, Red Dragon, and both Spider-Mans. As for the poster, I love it. This seems like the perfect show for Burton to display his creative imagery and visuals. Wonka still needs a goattee but oh well

Great poster. Somehow it manages to have more of a seventies feel than the 1971 film.

Hmmm...well I'm still not sure what to think about this. I'll have to wait at least until I see some actual footage.

In that 2nd picture, it looks like Johnny Depp stole Bono's fly goggles.

I wonder if Elfman will follow the style he utilized in The Nightmare Before Christmas, or Edward Scissorhands since that would probably suit this film more than his other approach. As much as I like most of his work, his scores of the past ten years or so have a general sameness to it. Namely, all those electronics/percussive elements he performs himself alongside the orchestra. It makes all of his main themes interchangeable to a degree. I miss the days when Elfman was really fresh and was always paying a clever homage to Herrmann.

It's a fine teaser poster. I just can't wait to see a trailer on this movie.

Does anyone know if this is a true remake, because of the title.."Charlie and the Chocolate Factory" makes me wonder...is Depp Wonka, or the grown up Charlie after taking over the factory???

It's actually not so much a remake as it is a literal telling of the first book Charlie and the chocolate factory. This wont have big song and dance numbers.

Roald Dahl was still alive when the "Willy Wonka and the Chocolate Factory" was shot, and wrote the screenplay. The name of the book was "Charlie and the Chocolate Factory," but for some reason the movie title was changed.

Hey, does anyone know who will be playing the Oompas? Perhaps Elijah Wood, Sean Astin, Billy Boyd, and Dominic Monaghan?

Really? Was not expecting it to be so soon, hopefully that's true, as I'm going to catch The Polar Express this weekend, pun intended.

A little trivia: the original was backed and endorsed by the Quaker Oats company (Look at the original title info on the poster and DVD) Is says "Quaker Oats presents" - The movie was mainlt to endorse a chocolate bar which never took off but the movie did and is now a classic over 30 years later

Looks fantastic, imo! Depp is going to be so much fun to watch in this film. I'm there opening weekend.

Are you sure that someone didn't make a mistake, and this is actually the poster for a remake of Cabaret?

For something different, maybe they could cast Ernest Borgnine, Charles Durning, Brian Dennehey and Dennis Franz.

I'm looking forward to seeing this one. Johnny Depp and Tim Burton is a win-win IMHO.

I would think the ST would be more along the lines of Beetlejuice or Pee Wee's Big Adventure.

Looks like it's Burton all the way with this one.

You see Charlie, I hid this uncomfortable piece of gum up my ass for two years. Then, after seven years, I was sent home to my factory. And now, little man, I give the everlasting gobstopper to you.
