Re: Reasons why Red Dawn did not work

1. the area in the movie wasn't the only one attakced, and it was fairly far from the lines. kind of stuck in the middle
2. they knew how to use guns as they, at least the guys, hunted and probably target shot to some degree before the invasion. You'd be surprised how well ambushes work. Read up on the Warsaw Ghetto
3. I'll agree much of it is unbelievable, but it's not completely unbelievable
4. because they gave a shit about America and the Constitution

I just got through watching Red Dawn on tv and I have to say this was the worst movie. Here's why:

1. Our Military would not leave a bunch of High school kids to fight a war for us.
2. These kids had No Training at all so how could they be that good.
3. No part of this movie is even believable.
4. why didn't they just hide in the woods?

I thought the movie was weak, but it does hold a special place in my filmgoing life because it was the last movie I saw in a Drive-In.

Re: Reasons why Red Dawn did not work

If Red Dawn didn't work why are they re-making it.

http://www.imdb.com/title/tt1234719/

(searched and didn't see another thread for the re-make, so I figured I'd tack it on here)

I've never seen Red Dawn. Is it a movie that hasnt aged well and only appeals to people that grew up with the movie?

Great movie. The invasion itself kind of freaks me out, up until the teacher acts in a completely ridiculous fashion.

Re: Reasons why Red Dawn did not work

Damn zombie threads!!! You got me again! I see the thread and click and start reading, not paying attention to the dates until someone says something that is really dated & I check the dates. Then I realize its years old. DOH!!!

Mods, is there a way to set threads to auto lock if it no one has posted in it for awhile? A month should be long enough.

only if you believe that you can logistically support an invasion of the USA from across the atlantic and that it takes 20 shots for an M1 tank to hit another tank

Re: Reasons why Red Dawn did not work

^ Because the discussion is related to it? I hate forums that have autolock features. 30 Days? Are you kidding? Movies take years to produce. Discussion waxes and wanes. Honestly, take responsibility for yourself, don't expect others to make rules to help you. If you know you have a tendency to overlook the dates of posts, start looking at the dates of posts. This is a discussion of Red Dawn, not Saw 7.

Because Hollywood is lazy and can't come up with any new ideas.

Boys! Avenge me! Avenge me!

Great movie, though I can see how people who didn't live during the cold war might not "get it".

We could totally start a new thread (if someone hasn't already), but I don't think there's much info out on the re-make other than an imdb listing.

I knew it was going to be a pretty good bump, but I guess I didn't realize it was 5 frickin' years!

Re: Reasons why Red Dawn did not work

Its just a movie. Its not supposed to be realistic or anything like that. Just sit back and enjoy. No need to nitpick how fakey it is.
