King Kong: just how much weight did Peter Jackson lose?

I did a search on Peter Jackson here, but did only find LOTR threads ...

I find this kongisking.net website very cool ... fudge hyperdrive in terms of 'give us money to see what we are up to" ... production video every other day .. way cool

what really wonders me .. after all these years of LOTR-ing, did P.Jackson finally find the time to work out a bit ??? he looks half the size compared to the LOTR documentaries ... way to go Peter ... good on ya! ... makes you live longer and gives us more movies to enjoy!

C'mon caipirina, you're so harsh. Just because he's a bigger guy doesn't mean you need to compare him to a fictitious giant ape.

Does losing all that weight make him less of a director?

I think he trimmed his beard and lost 27 pounds.

Also got Lasik surgery.

I find it hilarious that this A-list director gets such attention to his personal appearance. We're secretly afraid that he's "gone Hollywood."

I'm calling out Peter Jackson as a 3-hit wonder. Though some would argue the Lord of the Rings trilogy could be one long movie. Peter already went Hollywood, then he made LOTR.

You have to kidding. The maker of Forgotten Silver and Heavenly Creatures was already a respected, successful filmmaker with a diverse resume before he even signed on for LOTR, which was made in New Zealand not Hollywood btw. King Kong will be one of 2005's biggest films, 3-hit wonder my ass.

Apparently the studio wouldn't let him play the title character until he slimmed down a bit.

/Sorry

Seriously, IIRC, A. Hitchcock and O. Welles were large men also.

Just because it wasn't filmed in Hollywood doesn't make it a Hollywood film. It seems most films aren't filmed in Hollywood anymore. Canada and England seem to be big filming locations.

Until we see box office numbers, I wouldn't be so confident of it being 2005 biggest hits. Godzilla was supposed to be the biggest hit whatever year it came out and we all know what happened to that (made by the same people that made ID4 - it did huge business no matter what people say about it).

Okay, Roland Emmerich....Peter Jackson.

Roland Emmerich. Peter Jackson. Sorry but the comparison doesn't hold much water. After seeing Jackson handle not one but three effects-heavy 100 Million dollar epics and seeing the result, then reading an early version of Jackson's King Kong script(http://www.scifiscripts.com/scripts/kingkong.txt), I think it's safe to say the monkey movie will be a walk in the park for him. I'll stick to my prediction next year for Kong.

It's sad to see such a squeezable bear of a man become yet another "lifeless stick-figure with no soul."

Rivero, that is not the script they are using as it was deemed too FX heavy back in the day. Plus, PJ said that he now knows what he can and cannot accomplish thanks to his experience with LOTR.
