Speaking as someone who always thought making another Superman movie was a bad idea, these pics just make it look better and better. I'm glad the production seems to keep proving me wrong.

IMDB reported that Rachel Boston and Routh dated (appears to be in the past tense).

http://www.imdb.com/name/nm1036340/bio

Routh looks like a babyface as Clark Kent in those on-the-street photos, and his shoulders are not all that broad, wonder how they'll stretch out his frame when he's in costume. It could be that they'll film the Clark Kent scenes upfront, and let Routh build himself later for the Superman scenes (physique-wise).

I think the original Superman is very good, but I feel that it could've been improved upon. I'm disappointed that this version is going to be a continuation of Donner's film rather than a different vision. I'm not excited at all for this movie.

Well it's a pseudo-sequel. So there will definitely be elements of the first but it will be mixed in with some new ideas. I'm glad they're doing this rather than changing everything just because they can. Keeping what works and changing what doesn't seems reasonable to me.

As for Routh, I'm sure they'll do what they did with Reeve: let him work out as they film. Of course, as with Reeve, I'm sure this will require reshoots later on to match his bigger physique.

Awesome find, Meatpants.

Is Routh hiding his moustache under makeup?

What is up with the moustache cover-up job in the first photo?

BTW, Rachel Boston played Beth on American Dreams for at least the past 2 season, if not all 3 seasons.

It's no surprise I didn't know who she was since I've never watched American Dreams.

As for Routh's moustache, who knows? It is rather curious. Also, looking carefully at those pics, I think Routh is already in the right shape to be Supes. It seems his Clark Kent attire has a slightly loose fit and he's using the posture trick Christopher Reeve used when he was Clark Kent.

Visually, Routh is perfectly cast. Here's hoping his performance is a match. The only thing I miss is Clark's trademark hat but I can understand why that had to go. He doesn't even use it in the comics anymore.

I'm hoping for a re-iteration of sorts of the phone booth gag from the first film.

Actually, Routh looks pretty good there. But it's not hard to take an actor with strong facial features and dark hair and make him look like Clark Kent. All you need is a Clark Kent Haircut, Clark Kent style glasses, and a Clark Kent suit. The problem is what will he look like in the suit, and will the suit be stuffed with enhancements because he's not as big as Reeve, or Welling for that matter. Then comes a bigger problem, his acting. From what I've seen of him, he's not good at all, and he has a lot to live up to. I've seen him in Cold Case, Gilmore Girls, and that soap opera, and I wasn't impressed. In fact, I heard he was fired from the soap opera because of his acting. I hope that's not true, because you've got to be bad to be fired from a soap opera.

I fear the worst. But I'll give him a fair chance once the film comes out. You can't really judge him for a movie that hasn't even been finished yet.

Have to say, it is amazing that Batman Begins has gathered so much praise and attention, but Singer's (who has two hit comic / movie's under his belt) take on a classic superhero like Superman only gets doubt. Personally, I am not looking forward to it either, but I think that is mainly due to the fact I can only picture one man as Kal El and that man is dead and I have a feeling that most people feel the same.

R.I.P Christopher Reeve

Look at the pics again, Terrell. He's definitely been working out. That said, what will make or break him in the suit is not so much his physique but rather how dignified he looks in it. Dean Cain was in very good shape when he did Lois & Clark but looked terrible in the suit because he looked self concious in it. That's one thing that was great about Reeve: he came across as if he'd been wearing the suit all his life - even in the screen test.

As for Routh's acting talents (or lack thereof), I can't comment because I've never seen him in anything at all. And I too hope he wasn't fired from a soap due to bad acting.

Also, Routh's eyebrows are still thick as hell.

Yeah, but he just looked like Doofus.

He's definitely been working out.
Yeah, he's bigger. But compared to Reeve and the guy I wanted in the role, Welling, he still comes up short, at least for me. But I believe Welling didn't want the role because he didn't want to by typecast as Clark Kent/Superman, nor did he think he could live up to Reeve. Reeve was just the bomb.

Yet another update - there's footage of them shooting at http://www.brandonrouth.com . Nothing earthshattering, although Singer talks to some of the fans about the Brando rumor and the FOS.

Best part is, unless the footage was edited later, it seems they are playing the original Williams score during shooting, I guess to enhance the mood. Chill factor = 11.

I'm luvin' it. I trust the director, I think most of the cast looks great, I honestly don't see--or at least haven't--seen anything dire to bitch about. I'm just happy they're finally doing a new Superman movie.
