TAXI review thread...

Ebert

http://rogerebert.suntimes.com/apps/.../40920011/1023

"The taming of Queen Latifah continues in the dismal 'Taxi,' as Queen, a force of nature in the right roles, is condemned to occupy a lame-brained action comedy. In a film that is wall-to-wall idiocy, the most tiresome delusion is that car chases are funny. "

Film Jerk

http://www.filmjerk.com/new/article-1063--0-0.html

"Look one way, and you have two lead actors who couldn’t be more unfunny. Look the other way, and you can view poorly captured car chases. Or look ahead and watch four Brazilian bank robbing supermodels (that’s a personal choice). Anyway you look, the final result is the same; 'Taxi' just doesn’t work."

I'll be the first guy (in this thread) to suggest watching the original films instead.

...at least the first two. You can skip the third if you like.

wrong movie. this is not a remake of the tv show, but a remake of a couple of french car chase movies that Luc Besson produced.

He produced this one, but didn't write it. That unfortunate credit goes to the tandom of Robert Ben Garant, Thomas Lennon and Jim Kouf.

You're right, he's credited with writing an "earlier screenplay" which probably just means the script for the original.

The reviews were completely savage...it almost scared me off wfrom watching the movie, but I'm glad I don't listen to critics, because I really enjoyed the movies. I kpt reading reviews about how all the jokes fell flat, but maybe I was watching it with the easiest audience in America, because everybody was laughing and had a great time.

It's not going to make my list of the best movies of the year, but I go into a movie expecting to be entertained and I thoroughly way.

However, I'm not sure I want Tim Story at the helm FF, he doesn't do anything terriblly wrong, but he also doesn't have any flair or style that anybody couldn't have brought to the story.

I didn't think it was a total POS, but it wasn't good. I like Jennifer Esposito, and seeing Giselle frisk her was my favorite part.
