Originally posted by FantasticVSDoom I hope it isnt like the comics...The Elektra books have never really been that good to me. Now if it was more like Birds of Prey, then I would be happy. wait what? Birds of pray took Earth-2 huntress, tossed in the crippled babs and really destroyed Dinah's character. If that is what you mean by not like the comics then you made your point. But considering her look felt nothing like the comics in DD and I hated it for it. I'm hoping it actually has something more attached to the comic feel. |
For those who complain about her always looking like she's about to cry, would you prefer she was blowing bubble gum pop in the poster like in 13 Going on 30?

how could they not put it out in time for Oscar consideration?

I think it barely looks like her. Looks too photoshopped to me.

All you need to know: "JANUARY 14"

neat poster. I know a lot of people didn't like Daredevil, but I am looking forward to the Elektra movie.
|
Not a bad poster (kind of reminds me of some of the Daredevil posters). What does freak me out is the January release tag. When was the last time a decent movie came out in January. If it was February, I wouldn't mind, but January. YIKES!!!
Look at this past January, we had some excellent flicks as My Baby's Daddy and Chasing Liberty. The best movie from January was Along Came Polly, which really wasn't that good. |

Originally posted by Dr. DVD It's being released in January? Fox must have LOTS of confidence in this one. ;) This year, ALONG CAME POLLY did 30+ million the same weekend ELEKTRA is hoping to do big business. |

Originally posted by NitroJMS Well, January is normally a month of teen comedies and very little else, since most of the big movies in release are things that are holding well from the Christmas season. January normally also has the Oscar contenders starting to open wider after their limited releases in late-December. |
Well, FWIW, the re-release of SW in 1997 occurred in January. The last day of January, but January nonetheless.

Originally posted by Jackskeleton Not so much. But in any case, if they had more faith in it they would have booked it into the summer time line up. That is all that is being said here. Boy, if this board ran Hollywood, there wouldn't be ANY films released before June and after the first week of August. ELEKTRA is opening on a prime January release weekend (4 days too!) that has shelled out coin before. And get this, Jack, they have it all to themselves. Try doing that during the summer. Fox has faith. And this is a good release date. |
I think we've moved beyond the so called "dead months" as far as box office takes go. There seem to be surprises and successes every month, enough so that i'm not so sure release dates are automatically equal to studio faith. Regardless, this obviously isn't expected to be a blockbuster. I'd say a 70 million dollar take would be solid (unsure what the budget is)

I think this movie will be a sleeper hit!
