possible gay sex scene cut from "Alexander" causes delay.
imdb.
Warner Bros. pushed back the opening date of Oliver Stone's Alexander from Nov. 5 to Nov. 24 because it wanted Stone to cut some of the love scenes between Alexander, played by Colin Farrell and his male lover Bagoas, played by Francisco Bosch, according to MSNBC.com's "Scoop" column. It quoted an unnamed insider as saying, "Some of the suits at Warner Bros. think that the movie-going public just isn't ready to see that. ... There's some pretty heated arguments going on over it." Alexander is depicted as a bisexual in the film, which also includes heterosexual love scenes involving the title character. A Warner Bros. spokeswoman declined to discuss the report, saying "We wouldn't talk about anything involving the process of making a movie."

I heard about this today as well. Can't tell if it's hype or not, but . . .
Why not let the movie-going public decide what it wants to see? 40+ years ago, the "oyster" scene between Olivier and Curtis in Spartacus was edited to remove the homosexual context. I'd think we've come a good distance since then.

I don't believe a word of it.
ALEXANDER moved because most the moviegoing nation will be at THE INCREDIBLES the weekend of November 5th.

I think the main reason is PIXAR is going to wipe the floor with anything that comes out that weekend.

The Incredibles are a major factor, no doubt about that. Heck, opening any movie opposite something family fare is suicide these days, much less an R rated Oliver Stone movie.
However, I don't see it moving its date to the day before Thanksgiving as doing it wonders either. Wouldn't people be looking for more family fare then as well? It doesn't really matter. I don't see this movie making much money in the U.S. anyway. I say $85 million tops.
Now, what's wrong with showing a little man on man nookie? I thought history said that Alexander was bisexual, so it would make sense for him to have an experimental relation. All in the name of history!

Remember last year? Family films opened for 5 weeks straight. The only ones to do really well were the pictures released early.
THE INCREDIBLES and POLAR EXPRESS will play long into the new year, though they will eat up adult and children tickets right away. Moving ALEXANDER to Thanksgiving is a smart move; as most of the public will be (most likely) weary of kiddie films by then and possibly hunger for something more…Oliver Stone-ish.
And since when does anyone take the IMDB gossip page seriously?

The unrated DVD will probaby piss off consumers who are like "more boobies" but then a butt sex scene comes up, the people will get outraged. should be called the "director's cut" if anything. they should release both at the same time, the nc-17 in limited.

I heard it was big fallout over "money shot placement".
