Do you like it with the lights on...or off?

Watching movies, that is!

Call me crazy, but I absolutely can't stand watching a movie with all of the lights out (and that's not just because I'm occasionally taking notes!). Whether or not it's better for your eyes, I really prefer having a few smaller lights on during most any film...action, comedy, doesn't matter. How about you guys?

asianxcore 09-21-04 07:27 PM

no lights.

my TV is near my window, and I get kind of a glare/reflection which is sort of annoying :)

Mountain Biker 09-21-04 07:38 PM

I prefer the lights on as well

FinkPish 09-21-04 07:40 PM

I like it with a little light on... and shoes on.

Kumar J 09-21-04 08:43 PM

Lights on

DonnachaOne 09-21-04 08:45 PM

Lights off. Maybe a candle lit, so the light is soft and unintrusive.

A fire in the fireplace is also nice.

matome 09-21-04 08:49 PM

Always lights off

cultshock 09-21-04 08:53 PM

Lights off. The darker the better. I don't mind watching regular TV with the lights on, but I hate watching movies that way. My set up is in the basement, so no light from any windows either. The more it's like a movie theatre, the better (well, except for morons yapping on their cell phones, or idiots kicking the back of my seat, of course!)

fumanstan 09-21-04 09:18 PM

Lights on.

Corvin 09-21-04 09:20 PM

I prefer a soft light.

Numanoid 09-21-04 09:33 PM

I have an LCD projector, so it's always lights off, not necessarily by choice.

If I'm watching a tube TV, I prefer to watch comedies with lights on, and dramas and action movies with lights off. For some reason, comedies always seem funnier with the lights on.

FantasticVSDoom 09-21-04 10:04 PM

I have to watch with the lights off because of the TV. I get a wicked glare on the TV when the lights are on, and it drives me insane.

Darkfriend 09-21-04 10:12 PM

Lights off baby! (in my living room)

But I do have a bit of light coming from my hallway.

gcribbs 09-21-04 11:16 PM

lights off.

ToddSm66 09-21-04 11:38 PM

Absolutely no light.

I've gotten to where I can't sit down to watch a movie anymore until it's dark outside as well - too much light coming in through the windows during the day.

PorkChopExpress 09-22-04 12:22 AM

Like it dim, unless it's a horror, in which case I shut of all the lights turn up the volume for added effect.

ArchibaldTuttle 09-22-04 12:33 AM

The main thing is too avoid glare, or visible reflections on the screen, but in general lights off.

the narrator 09-22-04 01:08 AM

lights off

Jackskeleton 09-22-04 01:17 AM

You folks are crazy for leaving the lights on. Light off unless it's completely dimmed to a point where it's almost all dark.

Kicker_of_Elves 09-22-04 01:43 AM

Lights off, pitch black with nothing but the movie to light your night.

eedoon 09-22-04 05:33 AM

Softer lights work for me. I would like to go lights off all the way, but the black level of my monitor is horrible (I watch my movie on PC), and I don't think I'm going to watch my movie with no light unless I had front projection display.

Trigger 09-22-04 05:33 AM

lights off and someone's hand down my pants... mine, yours, whoever...

TheMadMonk 09-22-04 06:55 AM

Lights off (projector).

Maxflier 09-22-04 08:41 AM

Lights off.
