Disney CEO Eisner stepping down in 2006!

I heard on the radio Sept. 10 that Disney CEO M. Eisner will step down when his contract is up in 2006.
That means whoever takes over might release THE SONG OF THE SOUTH on dvd.

Jackskeleton 09-10-04 06:17 AM

I doubt that releasing SONG OF THE SOUTH on dvd is just Eisner's choice. Besides that, the new CEO is going to have a nice load of work on his/her hands cleaning up the shit that Eisner has created for disney. That's priority #1

That would be me!! He needed to step down years ago...great to hear that he's finally leaving, but 2006 means that he still has 2 more years to screw up Disney...

good.

Too long to wait.

But also upon listening to a radio buisness show they said that when he leaves he's going to have a very nice bonus package.
So he's going to very rich and they also said that Disney stock has not done all that great while Eisner was CEO.

Jackskeleton 09-11-04 10:23 PM

Who thought he wasn't going to get a nice package when he stepped down?

Michael Corvin 09-12-04 01:18 AM

I bet the stock rises the day he steps down as well.

2006?

Joy.

That gives him two whole years to finish hosing the company. And stuff his pockets while he does it.

He's already closed all the animation departments and let the parks go to shit. He is ahead of schedule. Looks like it will be a 2 year vacation until that bonus kicks in.

Hopefully he leaves at the begining of 2006.

Does this mean Roy will eventually come back and rock the world with an epic animated Disney movie?

wm lopez 09-14-04 05:37 AM

But a lot of great classics did come during the Esiner years like BEAUTY & THE BEAST, ALLADDIN, LION KING and so on.

Michael Corvin 09-14-04 06:52 AM

wm, that was when Eisner had 0 input on the animated feature films, Roy was in charge of that division. As soon as Eisner saw the $$$ that those 3 movies made, he put himself in the middle. Hiring executives to pump out more films, edging out the creative talent.

Just wanted to make sure we don't give credit where it isn't due. ;)

Dr. DVD 09-14-04 09:43 AM

The animated films that Disney made and hit big time had a lot of input from Jeffrey Katzenberg who left about the time Lion King hit video.

 to Eisner leaving.
