Re: what makes "Y mamá también " good?

It's a well made movie with layers* to it. Doesn't mean everybody is going to like it. I think it's well made but it's nothing I want to watch again.

* - Selective word choice to avoid using the term depth in regards to this movie particularly.

With time and subsequent viewings, I have changed my mind. This is an excellent film.

Rudo Y Cursi is the companion piece to Y Tu Mama Tambien, with the same leads but was directed by Cuaron's brother Carlos, who I believe co-wrote Y Tu Mama Tambien, as well. Carlos also wrote Rudo Y Cursi.

Rypro's comment. I wonder if he still feels the same about the "gratuitous" and "exploitive" nature of the film.

It's neither. Just a film being frank with it's sexuality.

Funny how they talked about fucking Hayek... Some time later Luna does fuck her in Frida.

This movie was terrible. Worse comedy I've ever seen. I can't believe it was billed as the spanish "American Pie."

I would say it's more of the Spanish "Road Trip"

It was made by that gay Spaniard Alberto Cabron who also made Gravity so it has to be good.

I never paid attention to the marketing, so if they did say it was the Spanish "American Pie" then they (the studios) were full of shit.

I'll have to definitely make it a double-header night and watch my UK BD of YTT and RYC this weekend.

Years ago. I don't remember it, though.

Yeah but the theatrical version with flan de queso was far funnier than the alternate flan de vainilla scene in the unrated cut.

Haven't seen it, maybe I tried to stream it from Netflix sometime. Didn't know the lead female was in Pan's Labyrinth.

Spoiler:
She the servant woman that slash the captain's mouth

Well get me his non-union Mexican equivalent "Alberto Cabron"
