GoodFellas or Pulp Fiction?

Out of these two, what do you guys think is the better film?

I personally think that GoodFellas is better. The acting, cinematography, dialogue, and especially direction, everything fits together.

The problem I've got with Pulp Fiction is Tarantino's "homages" and that it relies too much on its dialogue, plus the fact of Tarantino's "ability" as an actor, and add the fact of its meaningless soundtrack. While I like the songs he chose, they do not add anything to the development of the characters or the story.

Tarantino's homages, some of them are clearly rip-offs. For example, the Mia OD scene, taken from Scorsese's American Boy: A Profile Of: Steven Prince .

I love the dialogue in Pulp Fiction, but to me sometimes it seems a little bit excessive. It's like Tarantino focused more on it than he did on the story or its characters.

And Quentin, please don't cast yourself in your own movies. With comparing these two films, Scorsese's mother did a better job than Tarantino, and Marty's mom is a pretty good actress to boot.

So what do you guys think?

Please don't make me choose!!!!!

But I'd have to go with Pulp Fiction only because Butch was badass!

Remeber everyone, he is asking what is the BETTER picture, not your FAVORITE movie. Two completely different things.

IMO, it's not evern close. Goodfellas is by far the better movie.

I guess it can be fun to think about, but I don't see how two excellent but different movies can be pitted against one another to see which is better.

A well done steak is probabley a better meal than a pop tart, but maybe it's first thing in the morning and I'd rather have the pop tart.

Pulp Fiction and the way it was made I really liked. How it wasn't in order and you had to piece the scenes together. I loved the characters (i.e. Butch, The Vega Bros. etc) and It kept me wondering what the hell was in that suit case, Pornos?

Goodfellas, but then again, i'm one of the few who thought Pulp Fiction was just mildly entertaining.

Gaaah I'm pulling my hair !

Tough choice.

I think of Goodfellas as a great sirloin steak with potatoes and veggies and a good vintage wine

But sometimes I just want a good greasy burger with onion rings and fries and a cola.

Both are satisfying, it just depends on my mood

I'd have to go with GoodFellas but probably am a bit biased since Scorsese was my neighbor when I started to get into films.

If I had to pick, Pulp Fiction (though Goodfellas is great). I go with PF because at the time NOTHING had been done like that (to that level at least), and we had a wave of Tarantino copycats after that movie. On a whole, PF had more of a cultural impact.

I like Darkfriend's analogy. Pretty much how I feel about it.

Both great movies, but I give the edge to PF. GF slows down in some parts, but PF never does. GF is an excellent mobster flick, but PF created its own genre.

Goodfellas is the 'better' film, IMO.

Pulp Fiction is a ground-breaking film. GoodFellas is a cinematic masterpiece.

GoodFellas is the superior movie. Both, however, are quite entertaining to watch.
