Fukunaga’s It sounds freaking amazing. Sounds like it could have been on the level of Darabont adaptations.

Something that was brought to my attention today that I thought was pretty cool. It may have been mentioned already but I didn't see it.

In the novel, Pennywise returns every 27 years to terrorize the town. The miniseries aired in 1990.

re: Stephen King's IT (2017, D: Andrés Muschietti)

Solid second trailer.

I'm just about done re-reading It. I last read it about 20-25 years ago. I remembered very little of it.

It will be interesting to see how a second movie would work. As mentioned by others, the adult portion is pretty thin and basically serves to create a lot of the flashbacks. There's almost three full stories going on at once. The kids vs. It, The Losers Club, and then the adult portion. Then there are the historical flashbacks(Pennywise in action in the 1880s, 1900s, 1920s, etc.) Point being there is a shit ton of material for two flicks if done right. King can be wordy, but there's not a lot of filler. It's all interesting.

I think I'm most interested in seeing the Losers club aspect on film. I could watch an entire flick of just the kids being kids, forming their friendships and dealing with the bullies(including abusive adults).

Lastly, since I'm knee deep in it, I see no debate for the "Pennywise should be an innocent looking clown and luring kids" vs. "he's too demonic looking" debate we had earlier in the thread based on the promo pics. In 950 pages there hasn't been one instance of the former. It is a demon from the opening pages. There isn't a single point where Pennywise pretends to be some innocent clown.

I didn't love the tv version and this gives me a Stranger Things vibe and many King novels haven't translated too well to big screen, but will wait and see...

Well yeah. Stranger Things is a mashup of ET and IT, with a bit of Twin Peaks and the Goonies tossed in.

re: Stephen King's IT (2017, D: Andrés Muschietti)

It just occurred to me that it might be interesting to cast the adult Losers Club with 80s era child actors.

Bill - Wil Wheaton
Ben - Jerry O'Connell
Beverly - Molly Ringwald
Richie - Seth Green (also played young Richie in the 1990 version)
Stan - Sean Astin
Henry - Charlie Sheen
Eddie - David Arquette?
Mike - Wil Smith

He's too old now and would never do a horror flick, but I keep picturing Ron Howard as Bill.

Bill was tall, lean and a redhead. Three things Wil Weaton is not.

I'm pretty sure it's (L-R) Bill, Richie, Eddie, Mike, Ben, Stan, Beverly.

Has anybody else thought of this with all the damned rain lately?

Still looking good! I think this is actually going to turn out right ...

I have been so "in" for this movie ... now I am so out out mother fucking out.

Can't handle the clown room. I could handle the clown, can't handle the whole room of clown dolls. Nope, nope, nope.

Still not 100% sold on the look of Pennywise but these trailers have been very effective in conveying the right tone and piling on the '80s nostalgia.

As a rule, I don't see horror movies in theaters - the audiences are TERRIBLE - but I may check this one out... at the drive-in.

re: Stephen King's IT (2017, D: Andrés Muschietti)

I'm SO excited for this movie. It and Pet Sematary are my favorite Stephen King books. After reading some of the interviews with the director, who is a big fan of the book as well, I'm pretty confident this is going to turn out excellent.

One thing that has bothered me, I hate hearing people say it's a remake of the mini-series. No, it's an adaptation of book. The mini-series has nothing to do with this.

Also, as for the look of Pennywise, his character is centuries old. Clowns in the 1800s looked a lot different than the "Bozo" look of current clowns.
