The people behind this adaptation owe Stranger Things a hand job.

They really went full circle jerk with this looking like Stranger Things that was based on 1980s Stephen King.

Is that the young Peter Quill on the far left in the first pic?

Seriously.

But one could argue that Stanger Things was riffing on what these Stephen King / Spielberg movies were like back in the day anyway. Does Stranger Things owe a blowjob to Super 8?

And I'm pretty sure this was already filming before Stranger Things was released.

The novel is set in the 1950's and is steeped in the pop culture of that era. The film is now nostalgic for the 80's just like the novel was nostalgic for the 50's.

Right. But this was already filming before Stranger Things was released. There are pics in this thread posted a few days before Stranger Things dropped on Netflix showing the town.

Yep.

King's novel It was a nostalgia trip for fortiesh boomers who grew up in the 1950s.

The movie is being updated for Generation Xers who grew up in the 1980s. It's tapping into the same nostalgia vein that Stranger Things is. Ditto The Americans.

We can expect a few more things like this in the coming years.

Personally I am glad somebody is finally tackling this topic in a horror film. Those computer guys in the back have always given me the heebie-jeebies. IT promises to be a nightmare festival for me.

At the climax, I hear the guy can't get Excel to stop dropping the zero. And adding quotation marks where there AREN'T FUCKING SUPPOSED TO BE QUOTATION MARKS! Scared and steaming mad just thinking about it.

I don't like previews for previews but this one actually worked. I like the poster too. I'm now looking forward to this film.

The director already confirmed this was a hard R.

And after watching that trailer, September can't get here soon enough! This just looks fantastic! I just hope they don't cancel the already planned second movie.

And maybe if this does well, we can FINALLY get a real adaptation of The Stand going.

Looks good to me, but 13 years later and they're only doing half the novel?

Trailer looks great.

Sound mix seemed terrible. The kids' voices were almost unintelligible in my headphones.
