FYI: George Stevens started out as the cameraman on many Laurel & Hardy short features.

SHANE - just watched that again a few weeks ago. It's just about the perfect movie - and I'm not particularly a western fan.

The Greatest Story Ever Told needs a rerelease on dvd with a new transfer. I currently have the two disc version and watched it today. It is like paintings from long ago. The visuals are stunning and can't wait until it is restored.

It isn't my favorite George Stevens film. Gunga Din and Shane are tied.
