Yet another horror remake (dont know why)

Seems that they are remaking Pet Sematary. Here is the link which does not give that much info at all

http://www.upcominghorrormovies.com/...etsematary.php

Has anyone heard about this? I never thought this movie was all that great to being with compared to the book

Joe Molotov 08-15-04 01:54 PM

Instead of making all these adaptations of Steven King books that have already been adapted once, what they need to do is a Dark Tower miniseries. Sci-Fi Channel or HBO or somebody should do that like they did Taken; 20 hours, two weeks. I'd watch it.

Supermallet 08-15-04 03:52 PM

Doesn't he have to finish The Dark Tower before they can do a miniseries of it?

Actually, it's a perfect candidate for a remake: a decent idea that was ineptly filmed the first time. I'd much rather see remakes of movies that blew it rather than ones that were done decently the first time out.

Exactly. Which is why King films are such great candidates. 99% of them are crap. Including the Shining. The only ones that will never need remaking are Stand By Me, Shawshank, Green Mile, and Misery.

As for the Dark Tower. I would love it. And yes he has been done with it for a while. The final book comes out in a few short weeks.

Tarantino 08-15-04 05:59 PM

I'd disagree on the Shining. That's a great movie, the only movie of Kubricks that I like infact.

Rammsteinfan 08-15-04 06:00 PM

I dont wanna be buried in a pet semetary... i dont want to live my life again.

Rammsteinfan: BINGO !

Amen to that.
Since the last book in the series comes out next month...that would be perfect!!!

OK, I'll put my flame retardant suit on and ask. Can anyone tell me what was wrong with the original Pet Sematary? It scared the crap out of me.

Have you read the book?

The movie could have been so much more, wow

Zodiac_Speaking 08-17-04 03:05 PM

Don't forget Bad Seed is being remade too.

riley_dude 08-17-04 03:15 PM

Why dont they start adapting other authors who write better stories like Dean Kontz?

Ya think Denise Crosby will do a cameo?

Actually, no. (What's a book? ;) ) If that's the real reason, I can accept that. But just hearing Fred Gwynne say, "Sometimes... dead is better." just gives me the shivers.

I liked the original pet semetery too,in fact the flashback of rachel creeds sister is one of the more terryifying moments in screen history, almost everyone i have ever talked to about it has said that they where really creeped out by that scene, some even had nightmares over it,heck i even liked the sequel,

Michael Corvin 08-17-04 10:20 PM

Actually, I don't have a prob. with PS. It was one of the first movies that really creeped me out. Watched it at like 4 in the morning with my little brother and a friend(early teens). It was quite freaky.

As for the Shining, Tarantino, some think it is a great movie. But as a translation of the book, it gets an F. The mini-series was excellent. Had it been done for HBO or cable where you could have some gore, it would have been perfect.

I don't think Carrie needed a remake. And personally, I might add Apt Pupil and Hearts In Atlantis (although the fact that the title came from the book of stories/novellas and the actual story in that book that the movie is based on has a different title kinda bugged me).

Well, if they ever make a Dark Tower movie or miniseries, then they could either remake or recut Hearts in Atlantis :).
