I voted for Pearl Harbor. The love triangle part of the movie was horrible.

I'd hate to see how much each of his films cost. Armageddon probably cost well over $200 mil when you factor in marketing, so it didn't break even here in the good ol' USA. Plus, hasn't all of his movies dropped 50%+ during it's second weekend? If that's the case, then it means word of mouth isn't exactly positive.

I enjoy his movies for the most part. It's just the dialogue in most is quite sickening. "Pearl Harbor" has to be the worst of the bunch. Way, way, way too many plot holes in that one. Can someone try again to explain to me how Ben Affleck can't read in the beginning of the film and then is capable of writing poetic love letters later?

Armageddon was loved by so many! I remember that summer rather well, and everyone I knew just gushed over it. It was like, the coolest thing. People went to see it over and over. Grant it, I was only 15 at the time. But Armageddon was definately a well-liked movie.

I think it made, like $70 or $80mil in the first five days. So it really had nowhere to go but down.

I thought Pearl Harbor was the worst, too. He just needs to stick to stylized escapism.

Armageddon is listed on IMDB with a 140 million dollar budget, before marketing.

I don't think a 50% drop is automatically indicative of poor word of mouth and a negative reaction. Sin City had a 50%+ drop, didn't it? I remember even something like X-Men had a healthy drop as well.

Wow, "Armageddon" only dropped 34% in its second weekend. Of course, the competition was "Lethal Weapon 4", "Small Soldiers", and "Doctor Dolittle". I think the competition definitely has alot of affect on a movie's box office numbers.

Pearl Harbor is THE suck. I could at least laugh at Armageddon. Pearl Harbor was even too bad to laugh at. Bay tried to blend Titanic and a war movie together in order to make a lot of money by appealing to as many people as possible.

I sat through this mole rat crap, moaning and gnashing my teeth, for what felt like weeks, waiting for the battle sequence. It finally gets there and at the conclusion of the sequence I felt like the filmmaker had taken a dump in my brainpan.

This was supposed to be historically accurate? The pilots all bumble around like airborne keystone cops except for the two leads of course. Nope. These guys are on something. They’re using the force more effectively than Luke or Anakin ever did, making airplanes do things that airplanes cannot do.

Basically the only good part of this stinkfest (for me) was the 2 second scene of a ship deck buckling up. One guy on this project produced about 48 decent frames of film.

Not enough! When I saw that this thing had over an hour left on it, I singed my fingers slapping that thing at light speed back into the Netflix envelope and the f**k out of my house. Not even Battlefield Earth or Batman and Robin inspired such angry revulsion in me. This film is genuinely obscene.

Thank God for Trey and Matts’ love ballad in Team America: World Police (paraphrasing- “Girl I miss you, almost as much as Pearl Harbor sucked.”). They sing it like it is. Us ‘Harbor Haters are not alone.

I thought I watched a lot of movies, but I couldn't vote because I haven't seen any of these (well, I caught 20 minutes of The Rock on tv once. It didn't seem to suck from what I saw).

Yeah, Pearl Harbor was the best sleep I had on your g/f's breasts, as well.

I'd have to go with the majority of people here in saying Pearl Harbor is his worth effort, to date. I found nothing to like about this movie. No, not even the attack sequence. The only thing I can think of from keeping this from the #1 spot on my Worst Movies I've Ever Seen list is the pep talk from Alec Baldwin. A critic once commented it felt like something out of an SNL skit. And it did.

Does this mean I'm a pretentious film snob? I don't know, though I'm sure one look at my collection would show numerous movies a film snob would never go near. And to be honest, I actually like most of his other stuff, to some degree. Especially The Rock.

Is Michael Bay the worst filmmaker ever? No, I'd probably save that title for someone like Rob Cohen.

Glad to see all of the people standing up for Michael Bay and going against the "film snob" attitude. I will be the last to defend him across the board (Pearl Harbor was awful - let's all hope to God up above that he doesn't decide to do a "moving tribute" to 9/11 a few years down the line), but he makes pretty enjoyable action flicks overall. I liked Armageddon quite a bit....it's the only one of his movies that I own, but the others were a perfectly entertaining watch.

Bad Boys 2 was the worst one that I have seen, with BB1 being 2nd on your list. I never have seen Pearl Harbor, probably would have slept through it a few times...

It's been rumored/discussed for over 20 years. It's not Willis.

Okay here's an article dated today about this. Seems mostly but not completely debunked.

Surely some internet sleuth with too much time on their hands has combed through the Die Hard footage of Willis to see if they could match up the images.

Since they doesn’t seem to be any evidence of that, I’m guessing it’s debunked. I’d also guess since one studio is Fox and the other is Touchstone, putting footage from Die Hard in the movie would be less likely for an Easter egg.

Re: Worst Michael Bay movie

And to answer the original question, I’ve been a defender of Bay’s movie for awhile but Transformers: Age of Extinction was so long and tedious I turned it off and never finished it. Something I’ve never done with another Bay movie.

You're kidding, right? (You are, kidding, I hope. If not, well, kudos for standing up for an unpopular opinion!)

The Rock is garbage. So much talent in front of the camera, but it's totally wasted on a lousy script and hack direction. I really wanted to like the movie (because of Sean Connery and Ed Harris), but it's crap. IMNSHO.
