I saw it on the news out here. It moves a lot better than I'd have thought. So it goes.

cactusoly 08-03-04 11:45 PM

pretty cool

cortan 08-03-04 11:46 PM

So the only thing a bad guy would need to do to escape from the Bat is to take a corner on the inside lane. Hmm.....

Jon2 08-04-04 03:18 AM

Outside of it's overall weird look, I'm not impressed. Very unbatlike and looks like the illegitimite child of a Humvee and some tank-like thingamagig. Seems to prove the old adage that "A camel is what a horse would look like if it were designed by a committee."

Leaves me with a bad feeling about this Batfilm.

FuzzyBallz 08-04-04 03:51 AM

That thing looks soooo fugly. And what's up w/ the semi wheels.

I take it you don't read the comics. We really won't see the *real* "Batmobile" until the sequel, if it happens to be made.

Nagheenanajar 08-04-04 08:26 AM

I still hate it. That is the only thing bothering me about this movie. Oh well, not like I can actually do anything about.

RoboDad 08-04-04 10:45 AM

It's odd, but I could have sworn the people who love this monstrosity were so certain that we would not see it cruising around Gotham. And yet, that's all this new footage showed. And it looked...silly. Can't even take a corner without losing traction.

C-Mart 08-04-04 11:06 AM

I'm not too fond of the "Bat-SUV" myself. On a side note, can they actually associate a copyright to an email address like that?

Kal-El 08-04-04 11:11 AM

You guys haven't seen what that thing's designed to do. Read the script. Seriously.

Joem 08-04-04 11:13 AM

Am I the only one that thinks it looks clunky and not stylish? I'll take the original Batmobile (Michael Keaton movie, not TV show) any day over that.

If I'm not mistaken, the last shot is the only one they had film cameras rolling alongside it. all the other footage looked like test runs. I don't think most of what we saw here is what's going to be in the movie.

Does the real Batmobile pop out from under it a-la Condor-Man? 'Cause that's been done... in Condor-Man. Man that's an old movie.

Anyway, I have to say it does look better than the previous 2 incarnations of the Batmobile. But I'll have to agree with Joem, give me the Keaton Batmobile any day.

sundog 08-04-04 01:24 PM

Love the Chicago locations. I saw Monday evening that film crews were setting up downtown. Wish I could have stuck around to see some actual filming. These shots may have been done then.

And my impression of this Batman movie was that it would be de-stylized. No flashy bat logos on all the devices, everything handled in a pragmatic way. I love the Keaton Batmobile too, but that thing is so over styled. This new one looks a little more, utilitarian?

No, it's just a testing vehicle from Wayne enterprises. We won't see the real batmobile until a future movie.

Cardiff Giant11 08-04-04 07:16 PM

while the Tim Burton films' Batmobile will always be my favorite given the story line of this one, I think this one makes perfect sense. I read in Newsweek of all places that one of the ways Bruce Wayne's "wonderful toys" are obtained is that Wayne Enterprises has been doing contracting for the military so it makes logical sense to me. It seems like this whole movie is going to be a more realistic and logical Batman movie in every way, for better or worse.

Exactly. When people see the actual film, the Batman Monster-Truck vehicle will make sense.

I like the way it looks. I didn't think it would look good in action after seeing the pics, but that footage has me convinced.
