ne1 know what this bizarre, dialogue-less animated movie I saw a while ago is called?

sorry for the "ne1"....the real word wouldn't fit in the title.

Several months ago I saw a movie on cable, and I really wish I knew what the hell it was.

Maybe someone can help me out?

It was animated, and looked like it was done in the 60s.....maybe it was, or maybe it was just done that way intentionally. I'm pretty sure there was no dialogue, but I don't think that mattered as (I think) it took place on a different planet, or some kind of alternate reality. The setting was some kind of alien, surreal landscape, and I think it involved some weird, sort of human-like creatures....probably aliens....who kept, I think, people as pets, and they were quite a bit bigger than the people (like people to hamster ratio I think). I watched maybe an hour of it. That's all I can remember of it, at least that I can describe.

Anyone know what the hell movie I'm talking about?

OH MY GOD! I used to own this movie a long time ago on laserdisc. And now I can't think of the title to save my life. I know exactly what movie you're talking about. If memory serves me correctly, it's French. I'll post again if I can think of it.

Damn, I wish I found this thread earlier! I've been a fan of FP for awhile. It's a pretty trippy movie, with a trippy-ass soundtrack to boot.

If anyone is interested, the late hip hop artist Big Punisher sampled the score to Fantastic Planet in his song "Boomerang".

Oh wow, I saw this movie on cable once and was mesmerized. It's out there. If I had a couple extra bucks to throw around, I'd pick it up.

I just got this from Netflix last month. I think it won the Palm d'Or, but I just didn't like it too much. It was probably revolutionary at the time, and I still remains a unique film today, but I didn't get into it.
