Marvel's Film Slate From 2nd Quarter Report Source
==============
Marvel's Film Slate From 2nd Quarter Report Source: Marvel Enterprises Thursday, July 29, 2004
Marvel Enterprises has released its Second Quarter financial report and in it the company mentions the status of the various superhero projects it has in the works. Here are some highlights from the report. You will also be able to listen to their webcast on this here at 9am Eastern Time.
Marvel's President and CEO, Allen Lipson, commented, "The continued success of entertainment projects such as films, video games, and comic books based on our portfolio of characters has led to enhanced brand awareness for the Marvel Universe of characters, which in turn has led to increased sales. The recent release of Spider-Man 2 has broken box office records and has generated more than $600 million in worldwide box office receipts to-date, and the DVD is scheduled to ship in November. In addition, consumer products based on the movie are currently among the strongest performing brands at retail, further cementing both Marvel and Spider-Man as flagship brands with retail partners.

So Marvel fans what do you think?
Looks like DareDevil 2 is MIA, even though Ben is doing a cameo in Elektra.
Man-Thing was pushed back to a TBD release date. I smell direct to video for this sucker. Also the Marvel brand logo isn’t attached to this film.
F4 should be pretty good. The casting seems to be alright...Michael Chiklis as THE THINK
The one new movie that I'm excited for is (other than SM3) THOR! Avi Arad has stated that he's looking to make the Thor movie very LOTR-ish style wise, which could look amazing! Thor would have sucked if he was running around NY....but in a fantasy world of gods that could be pretty sweet.
Take notice that Hulk 2 is in development. Wonder how long that film will be there?
So far Marvel's gold mine has been with Spider-man, and X-Men.
Wonder what will be the next big hit? F4? Iron Man? or maybe Captain America...?
The buzz at Marvel about Captain America is that the time frame for the whole film will be set around WWII.
Also keep your ears open for the Namor film. Avi Arad is really pushing for this movie to be a major hit! From what he has described it should be. The CGI work should look amazing!
'nuff said true believers.

Am i the only one that doesnt really care about a Namor film? I always found the character irritating and funny looking with his flat top head and pointy ears and speedos. I would love to see a new Hulk film now that I know they would never go the art house route they tried with Lee at the helm of the first one.

I never cared for the Namor comics...but the film might be fun.
Hulk 2 should be titled Hulk 2: SMASH. It's all about Hulk Smash! It should be a fun movie....but it's still in development, I expect it to remain in that stage for awhile.

It scares me that the FF four movie is being cranked out so fast. Also, Jesssica Alba is a crappy c hoice.
Other than that, it looks good.

A movie with Namor going on a rampage against the surface world could be great. Though I suspect they'd never get the budget to do it properly.
Probably 2/3 of these movies will never happen, of course.

Reed looks too young at any stage in the history of the FF.
Thor is hot shit. Namor is hot shit. If done right, which it sounds like they may be.

Ant-Man?
Do we really need an Ant-Man movie?

some of the movies are really obscure or lesser known marvel characters that I'm sure we could live without movies of.
I am really excited though for, Blade Trinity, the Ghost Rider movie, X3, and Elektra.
Deathlok sounds like a neat idea, always thought the comics were solid.
They should cut the Ant Man, Namor, Iron Fist, Black Pather and Thor movies, and make a Cable or Deathpool movie.

I'm with you on that one, B.A........Nazis and Hitler and the war raging with the Red Skull doing his thing in the era he was born to be in, working for a regime of monstrous proportions, rather than some watered down present day Captain America- Batman wannabe type movie. This movie could be VERY dark......with a real playground of a world on the brink of losing it's freedom.

I liked Ant Man when it was called Honey I Shrunk the Kids. Iron Man should be their next logical choice as you can do some nice visual stuff with it, especially if they make him CG and bust their ass doing it.
