Sharon Stone:why is her career not yet dead?

Honestly, she hasn't had a hit that can be totally accredited to her since Basic Instinct. The two movies that were moderate successes, The Specialist and Casino, did not have her as the focus. I have not seen Catwoman, but the clips I have seen of her in the movie really lead me to wonder why she is not yet doing infomercials for a living. Furthermore, she doesn't look that great anymore. In all honesty, I think she only looked good in Total Recall and Basic Instinct. Since then she has tried to look freaky and rather unattractive with her butch haircuts and allegedly bitchy attitudes.

I hope Basic Instinct 2 never gets made as it would not only taint the original, but confirm that Stone is past her prime in a major way.

Honestly I have no idea. Sharon Stone is death to a movie's box office. She hasn't headlined or hell been part of a hit since Basic Instinct (Casino and Specialist were only moderate at that).

So...who knows. Stone is like one of those Hollywood figures. She probably has all the right friends and connections.

Now, Sharon is by all means still very good looking for a 40 plus year old woman. But she's not a very good actress, and her movies in general stink. Why does she get hired?

Well, think of the bright side. It's not hard to skip her movies, unless crap like Catwoman and Cold Creek Manor actually look good to you.

She really hasn't aged so well. I guess part of the reason she's still popular is because she isn't always in the limelight.

I'd argue she's one of those who are more famous for being famous than for starring in good movies (J Lo, anyone?) She's basically a one-hit wonder who's coasted ever since Basic Instinct IMHO.

She's playing the bitchy older villainess in a Halle Berry superhero movie that flopped in its opening weekend--a movie that everyone knew was going to be a trainwreck from day one. How much more of a dead career can you get?

I agree. That perfectly describes her. While I wouldn't say the same applies to J Lo (unlike Sharon Stone, J Lo IS popular and has headlined many well received and popular films and music) Sharon Stone is famous, but I don't think anyone could give a crap about seeing her in anything. All of her movies suck, but they also don't make any money. yet...she's still famous. And will continue to be for some odd reason. go figure.

She is still famous because she's 46 years old and extremely attractive. Period.

She does one terrible movie after another.

Her career is dead. No one cares.

I read recently on the web that she will be doing Basic Instinct 2, but Micheal Douglas won't be in it, she wants a young person to play the Douglas part. Apparently the lawsuit she had has been settled.

When you are co-starring in Catwoman, its safe to say your career is dead.

[Disdainful Seagal] Who else is going to do it? You? [/Disdainful Seagal]

There aren't that many Catherine Deneuve-types in Hollywood. You know, older but still skinny and bitchy attractive. She fits a niche and I'm sure there are some viewers who think her name still means something. Even then, it's not like she's working constantly, so I don't know what the fuss is about.

Besides, actresses aren't playing the same game as the men, are they? They don't really need to be able to singlehandedly power hit movies in order to be popular or in-demand. I'd say there's about 1 actress working today who has anything approaching the draw of a top male actor.

I saw her on a talk show the other day, and her body still looks great. Face has aged a bit, but I think her haircuts are what make her look bad, more than anything else. I'd still hit it.

I don't know. Ask Angelina Jolie. Like Sharon Stone, her only real hit was Tomb Raider, and a lot of people seem to hate that movie.

Well, she was horrible in Catwoman, plus she's never really been impressive in anything else. She's just, as others have put, famous for being famous. Her "career" IS dead.

Well, i seriously doubt Halle Berry's career is dead because of Catwoman. She's the ONLY thing that seems to be getting any positive notes from the Catwoman movie. Not to mention, this isn't quite Pluto Nash sized bomb either.

But Sharon Stone? Who knows. She's still a good looking lady barring the funky hairdos, but God she's in the worst movies possible. She can't pick a script at all. And she's supposed to be smart??? She was Mensa and stuff!

I don't really think she has a career. She hasn't been in too much in the last few years - Basic Instinct though is one of those movies that people will never forget because it was so fantasitc and over the top.

Now the Diva bashing makes sense. Stone thinks she's god's gift to Hollywood.

Stone = Overrated since showing her bush in basic instinct.
