I haven't seen Pitch Black ?

would i be totally lost if i watched Chronicles of Riddick without having seen Pitch Black ??

These movies don't play like sequels to me. It feels like they are set in different universes.

I suspected this when I saw the trailer. It sure didn't look anything like the first movie.
