Best JAMES CAAN film - After or Before The Godfather!!

We all (?) love him as Santino Corleone in 1972's The Godfather, but name your second favorite movie with James Caan featured. (And as presumptuous as it may sound, I do realize that maybe The Godfather is not your favorite Caan film of all-time, but let's just go with it.)

The Gambler (1974)

A stunning character study of a person addicted to gambling, but more importantly,
Spoiler:
the gambling is just a symptom of his real addiction to personal risk and danger. Winning does not make him happy.
Many people do not understand the perfect ending.

Caan is perfect in the role, perhaps the best role of his career. Too bad so few people have seen this film.

But it's not as good as The Godfather.

I thought he actually showed up in Matt Dillon's CITY OF GHOSTS, an under-rated film.
