Too bad the studio refused to greenlight the sequel.

Adam McKay was twittering about it for weeks. He had all the stars on board, kept trimming the budget, used the profitable theatrical run, the huge DVD sales of the original, and the existing fan base in the pitch. He wanted 60 million in original budget, but dropped it several times. The first was a hit with a $26 million budget and ~$90 million theatrical.

They turned him down.

Now Steve Carrell, literally this week, is using his showbiz clout to try and get the studio heads to make the sequel. Man I hope it works. I'd like to revisit that crew if it was a good film.

I have not seen this, and I don't know how it is. Keep the comments coming, fellas, I'm still on the fence.

The best comedy of the past 10 years, probably.

Just revisited it for a third time the other day. I thought my initial impressions weren't harsh enough. Enough time had passed that I forgot pretty much the entire plot and it was almost like seeing it again for the first time. I didn't laugh, and maybe cracked a smile once.
I know what you're thinking, and the answer is yes, I do have a nickname for my penis.

Love it. Absurd comedy is my favorite, and this one succeeded brilliantly at what it set out to do. I think. But I don't want to see a sequel.

Quite a hilarious movie. That, with the fact they make sequels or prequels of all kinds of refuse, makes me wonder how these morons at the studio come to a decision about anything?

My bet is on Manatees and plastic balls.

I hear he asked the human torch for the money, but sadly...
Spoiler:
The human torch was denied a bank loan.
