I liked it a whole bunch. It was better than Dodgeball. The crowd and I were laughing the whole time. My favorite character was the Weatherman.

I loved it, the one bit where I was cracking up was the Eau du Puma or whatever it was Paul Rudd used.

You mean "Sex Panther"?

Studies have shown that 60% of the time, it works all the time.

I was sore from laughing after I saw it. You can't go into Anchorman expecting a traditional plot. It's not friggin' Citizen Kane and doesn't aspire to be. Some of my favorite lines:

Spoiler:
I woke up in some Japanese family's rec room and they just would not stop screaming!

I ate a big red candle.

I don't know how he got German pornography.

It smells like Bigfoot's dick.

Newsteam assemble!

I killed a man with a trident.

I'm riding a big furry tractor!

Carrell's a genius!

Spoiler:
The scene I completely lost it at, was when when Burgundy pays off the announcer, and begins to snicker when Applegate is announced as "Tits McGee"

I absolutely loved this movie. I was laughing so hard during some of the parts that I was nearly crying. Hil-freaking-larious.

What? Has your friend ever seen either actress?

???? I'm still confused as to how this fits in with Anchorman. What am I missing?

During the credits they were showing bloopers, and they threw in a Smokey and the Bandit blooper, which I thought was pretty hysterical.

I thought it was pretty unfunny. Those who are comparing it to Old School, well, I think Old School is the funniest comedy of the last five years.

There was only one scene in Anchorman where I laughed out loud, it was the 'it's hot out, milk was a bad choice' line.

It just felt like an extended Saturday Night Live skit.

It was ok but should have been much better. Pretty lame and juvenile jokes considering the talent involved.

Then again, some people will literally laugh at anything apparently.

It was average, some laughs here and there, but mostly stupidity.

I guess the best word to describe it would be "cute."

It was better the first time, but now that I've seen it twice... I've found myself quoting it non-stop.

From a story standpoint, Anchorman was awful. However, it was also incredibly hilarious. With a comedy, a lot is forgiven as long as it makes me laugh, and this made me laugh a lot. I'll give it a solid B+. "Wow, a rainbow! Do me on it!"
I'd pretty much agree with this. Technically, I can't say Anchorman was anything special. But with comedies, all I really want is to laugh. And I haven't laugh at a movie that hard in quite so time. I found it quite excellent.

Definitely the worst movie I've seen this year. I would have been happy to leave halfway through if CM had wanted to.
Now that is the best review ive read all day...complete agreement!!!

Anchorman and Old School are very close, and I would rank them much higher than Dodge Ball and Zoolander

Funny parts, like with the "punch you in the ovaries" line and such, but it just fell way flat. Honestly, not even close to a buy on DVD. I am surprised people here liked it...Ferrell is great (my favorite comedic actor today) but he wrote a terrible script. Leave the writing to others in the future, is my advice.
Thank you...i thought no one was going to say that. If Old School and Anchorman were planets it would be Mecury and Pluto.....ridiculous to even attempt to put Old School in the same category

the first 15min had potential, then the movie just took a swan dive into extreme asininity: nothing was riotously funny - it all reeked of stupidity. If I made a dollar every time I rolled my eyes into the back of my head, I could have treated myself to dinner, even the post credit scene at the end seemed pointless and unfunny. To the poster who though 'White Chicks' was funnier, yes, you are correct.

Here is my opinion:

I believe stating your opinions, and basically stating them as if they were facts comes off as being obnoxious. Using a couple little words and phrases like "IMHO" makes it seem so much nicer, like you are possibly able to accept that other people might have an opinion different than yours.

Other alternate phrases, to let us know that you are just stating your opinion: "I believe that..." "I would rank them as..." "I think that..." "Some people may like movie A, but personally, I thought Movie B was better because...."

Some people liked Anchorman better than Old School. Just because you didn't, doesn't make that other person wrong.

I'm not going to bother comparing it to other recent comedies, but I certainly had a great time seeing this in the theater. It's very random and all over the place, but it's damn funny. I love that it doesn't take itself seriously in any capacity, just randomly plugging anything into it that might be funny, and it's clear they had a great time making it. I almost got the feeling they didn't care if we found it funny or not, and I liked that. Definitely a stupid movie, but the most I've laughed in the theater in a long time.
