Orson Welles Or Marlon Brando?
In my opinion two of the best actors ever, there are good actors but then there are the master actors; Brando and Wells fit the bill as masters. Who do you like better and why?

Oh, I thought this was going to be a poll on which one we thought let themselves go the most.

Rosebud. . . yes, Rosebud frozen peas. Full of country goodness and green peaness. Wait, that's terrible. I quit! |
Marlon Brando was by far the better actor.

Orson did the voice of Unicron so I'll go with him. Besides Superman, never seen a Brando film.....and yes, that also means I've never seen the Godfather.

Nothin' personal, but you are comparing apples and oranges.
Brando was an actor. Welles was a director, and, among directors, an auteur. His "acting" skills paled in comparison to his cinematic gifts. |

Originally posted by Crocker Jarmen Oh, I thought this was going to be a poll on which one we thought let themselves go the most. I agree with the above statement. these two are two different to even begin to compare. The only thing they have in common is how they "grew" over the years. |
I also agree with a lot of the above. They both got larger in girth over the years but I believe Welles got bigger. Other than that, they were both great but too different to say one was more than the other. I believe that Brando's only film directing was OE-JACKS - good but not equal to KANE in directing but excellent acting. They both are legends - we will enjoy their work for a long time.

Even though my initial reply was rather flippent, I wouldn't count Welles out as an actor.
I know that a writer/director was how the man saw himself, but you can't dismiss the terrific performances he gave. I mean, acting on the radio was what first gave him notiriaty wasn't it? Myself, I was never too bowled over by Brando. Other than Don Corlene, I never saw him being the character as opposed to being Marlon Brando. |
On strictly acting criteria I have to give the nod to Brando, but if you factor in other creative endeavors I prefer Welles.

Brando was an actor. |
twikoff
|
I've always found Welles' acting to be phenomenal, and Brando's to be underwhelming... so you know who I pick.
|
I thought this thread was asking who would me more likely to put an "all you can eat" buffet out of business first, so I voted Brando. :D ;)
|
Welles had far more range as an actor in my opinion. Just look at the range he exhibited in Citizen Kane alone.
