Speed Racer (d: The Wachowskis)

I've reported it a few times without any change. Guess the mods are too busy deleting NSFW content.
For me, the more previews I see the cooler the movie looks. But it doesn't feel like it will be a big hit.

what do you need to see in a movie to make it not boring?

“The Wachowski brothers have tumbled into a matrix of their own with “Speed Racer,” one which has rendered them completely out of touch with the outside world… In adapting the 1960s Japanese anime television series, writer-directors Larry and Andy Wachowski have created a noisy, overlong, mind-numbing extravaganza that seems tailor-made for nobody but themselves and their twisted sensibilities… “Speed Racer” is, of course and unfortunately, mainly about the races -a never-ending blur of lights and color, an overlapping cacophony of drivers and announcers, flying car parts and flailing crowds.”

I much prefer this one (it's one of the few positive reviews out there so far):
Speed Racer plays like a car-crazed visual wonder -- it looks and feels like what pop artist Roy Lichtenstein would dream if you locked him in a room full of gas fumes, gave him only candy to eat and showed him nothing but Tron, Indianapolis 500 footage, episodes of the '60s Batman TV show and Chitty Chitty Bang Bang. All at the same time.

Bad reviews or no, I'm definitely going to go see this.

I don't like Rex Reed at all, but have to admit his comment on the front page of RT made me laugh:
"I can sit through just about anything, but I draw the line at two hours and 15 minutes of fuchsia vomit. To suffer through this kind of hell, movie critics deserve combat pay."

Gotta love idle threats.

So I was pretty much set to hate Speed Racer. The ads have all looked awful, and I can still taste the grime in my mouth from The Matrix Revolutions.
But you know what? It completely won me over. It's loud and garish and completely, utterly sincere, and I had a blast. This is going to be an absolute love it or hate it film, and won't do very well at the box office. But I will gladly put it in my Blu-ray collection. While it's not as groundbreaking, it reminded me of Tron, in its way. Worth seeing once, just to find out whether or not you like it.

Movie looks amazing. But then again I like movies that take place in hyper reality. And the colors. My god the colors.

I bought the theme song for the new movie and put it, and the cartoon theme, into ringtones. I used to watch the cartoon now and then but calling myself a fan is pushing it. With that said I am seeing the film in IMAX tomorrow and even if the story and characters are shit the visuals will more than make up for it.
