I was actually interested in this...until I just saw the trailer. Wow. That is seriously terrible. I had nausea inducing flashbacks to Ultraviolet.

There's a LOT of repeated footage in that little ET trailer.

Here's the trailer itself.

Obviously if you watch it in HD on AOL Movies you get this version of the trailer and not ET's cycling footage.
And I think it looks great. I think the performances look serious and I think the art style reflects a live-action comic book come-to-life in a good way. And I didn't even care about this movie three days ago -- I've never seen the show nor read any of the comic books.

Seriously. What the hell are you people expecting from a Speed Racer movie? A hard-R gritty suspense thriller? Give me a break.
It looks like the anime come to life in live action. Not only does the cast look exactly like the characters, but the style, the editing, and even the camera work looks exactly like the original anime did.
I'll be there opening day.

I'm not sure I really even want to see this now. Not that it was all that high on my list before. But still, this is a pretty good reason why Anime shouldn't go into live action.
Eh, enjoy it if you dig it. I just think it looks way over the top.

To the people complaining about the look...have you actually seen an episode of Speed Racer? They seem to have nailed it IMO.
I totally forgot about this movie, but the trailer has got me really interested.

I may still see this just because I like Speed Racer but good golly, this looks terrible. Are you sure Joel Schumacher didn't direct this?
