Am I the only person that liked Nixon?
 

I thought it was a great movie.


This is the Oliver Stone film with Anthony Hopkins.



You might not like the man but he is one of the most fascinating figures in political history.

I was surprised Stone would make a movie about such a hate figure.

As for the film itself I thought it was terrible as was Hopkins' portrait.

I just don't like Nixon so it's not easy for me to sit down and watch a movie about him. People need a good reason to watch a biographical film and I can't find one this time.

I loved it 'cause Oliver Stone put his own twist to it. I just love the "scope" of his films.

One of my favorite Stone movies, I remember seeing it with a couple of friends opening weekend and being the only three in the theater under the age of fifty. What I don't like is the non-anamorphic DVD.

Threads that discuss the movie rather than anything specific to its release on DVD belong in Movie Talk, not DVD Talk "Main." Moving thread (like I did with others that fell into this category).

I thought it was solid. Not great, but a good movie. Stone needs to know when to stop putting psychological drug trip sequences in his movies. I'm hoping he doesn't try that crap in Alexander.

Naw, Nixon was a complete bastard. He came by my house once, drank all the beer and wouldnt shut up while we were watching TV. Just yammered all evening long about this and that and we were all "Shut UP mr President."

Sheesh - what a jackass.

I loved Nixon. I thought it was incredibly fascinating and insightful, as it really shed some light on the president. Hopkins was perfectly brilliant, as was Joan Allen and the rest of the amazing cast. In fact, I think Nixon is probably Stone's second best effort (just behind JFK).

I loved "Nixon," as well as Anthony Hopkins portrayal. True, he doesn't look anything like him, but it didn't take long before he became Nixon to me, and no longer Anthony Hopkins.

The scene that steals the whole movie for me and was sooo well done is toward the end, when Nixon is going to resign the next day (I hope no one considers history a "Spoiler") and he looks up at the portrait of John F. Kennedy and says, "When they look at you, they see what they want to be. When they look at me, they see what they are." Great Line!

I like the movie alot, now if only it would receive some better treatment on DVD.

Nixon is a fantastic film, IMO. One of Stone's better efforts, yet vastly overlooked.

That line summed up the whole movie for me....splendid use of drama

A little off topic, but whenever I think of Nixon movies the one that pops up in my mind is "Dick" with Kirsten Dunst & Michelle Williams. It's absolutely hilarious. You'll never look at the Watergate thing the same way again.
