Most Loathsome Basketball Fantasy Movie

Watching HBO recently, I couldn't help but notice 3 recent, awful, baseketball fantasy films, one worse than the next. Apparently concieved as pandering star vehicles, they are just some of the laziest, hamfisted movies I've run across. I refer to

-Eddie
-Juwanna Mann
-Like Mike

Outside of sports movie cliches like the bumbling team made into stars or the big game at the end, these more specicifally feature(or seem to feature, I honestly haven't gotten start to finish on any of them):

-the giant stupid European center
-the put upon coach
-the suit/buisness person who wants to exploit the star vehicle talent
-the moral/life lesson
-a ticket giveaway/prize promotion that seems entirely hackneyed and far fetched
-TV announcers who broadcast over the air in the arena and communicate in suprisingly, non-coincidental expository sentences

What convergence of Hollywood's much hearded copycat nature forced not one, but 3 of these turds on the viewing public? Which one is the worst?

It looks like you haven't seen "The Sixth Man." It makes Like Mike look like the Hoosiers.

Haven't had the honor of watching these superb films.

Not one of them, sadly enough of them.

Goodness. This is the second time I've heard this today. What do you people have against Hoosiers?

The answer to this question must be: Coach "starring" Cathy Lee Crosby.

For years I referenced this as the worst film I ever saw (I still don't have a better answer).

I love basketball, but this film was one of the most cliched and predictable films I've ever seen. I watched it in disbelief that someone would have the balls to put that many cliches in one film.

A feel-good movie that me feel really bad.

It is regarded as such. Many NBA player (surprise surprise) say that Hoosiers is one of their favorite basketball films. No realism in the game shots, but its a classic.

Name all of the other great basketball films besides Hoosiers?

People like predictable, feel-good movies so I'm not surprised that many people like this film. Me - I like originality and characters with more than one dimension.

Air Bug? Is that the one where the cocaroach ends up winning the big game after being injured and hitting the big shot at the end to save the day? Yeah the one with the monkey wasn't quite as good as the basketball film with the fish. You know, the one where the fish ends up winning the big game after being injured and hitting the big shot at the end to save the day.
Basketball films are so Awesome.
