Don't most big summer movies at least win the weekend of their release? I'm sure they don't all do that, but it seems to happen in most cases.

Yeah I was unable to sell my position in TOMOR. I guess I am glad I did not sell it. I also forgot to sell my HELEN shares and it looks like it will do ok also and beat the numbers.

I figure this makes up some of my losses in Shrek 2.

Shrek 2 may still surpass Day After Tomorrow for the weekend though

Impressed w/ Saved! that's a great deal for such a limited run.

Neither would I. It all depends what happens in the box office today. Whoever claims #1 today claims the entire weekend (both 3-day and 4-day).

Shrek 2 made $44 million last Saturday, so you know it'll make more than $25 million today, but how much more?

Glad to see that 'Saved!' is doing so well. It'll be expanding into more cities after this.

Yes, most of the big studio movies do make number one. But that still is a great opening for the flick, which is on its way to almost 100 mil over the four days. Not to mention, getting number one against a movie like Shrek is quite incredible, and two 60 plus million weekend grosses is...something I don't think has happened before.

It was up against a film that shows that it has legs and staying power. Yes, it's typically the case that the new release in summer time is the weekend winner till next week, but this weekend will be really close.

Pretty suprising. I would have definatley bet on Shrek to be No. 1 again. Raising Helen at No. 3 also suprises me since I only saw about 2 tv spots for this movie. Troy is dropping like a rock, as is Van Helsing. Mean Girls outgrossed Van Helsing this weekend.

Yeah, especially since it's made over a $40 million profit so far. By no means is it a hit!

Saved! is great. I saw it tonight. I think that after it's successful limited run, it'll probably get a wide release.

The second weekend is always the most important weekend for any big film. If it drops 60%, see ya! If it's in the 40s or less, then it has legs.
