Re: Suspiria Remake!!!!!
Suspiria is my favorite movie ever. That said I don't care if a remake happens or not. All these remakes have me so tired that I just don't care either way anymore.

Went with him and another one of our friends a couple years ago to see a Midnight showing of it. Took the other friend along and he openly said he thought the film was boring. So boring he started drinking in the theater and started being loud throughout the whole film

Magenta blood and really bad acting makes it goofy. Greatest ever? Wow. That's a major stretch. I'd say The Shining has a bit more heft in that department. The 70's horror genre is pretty goofy when you look back on it now. Groundbreaking, but goofy.

I don't mind goofy as long as goofy is entertaining. Look at the Evil Dead trilogy; Raimi did it perfectly. Suspiria just bores me to tears. Great score? Sure. That's about it -- everything else kinda blows. IMO of course.

Re: Suspiria Remake!!!!!
I think the score, FX work and cinematography are all top-notch in "Suspiria", so I can overlook the fact that it's storyline is weak.I don't know why people give it so much praise, though, since Argento made better films during that period.

I'd say the first murder in the film is one of the most beautifully shot, perfectly composed horror scenes ever. Much greater than anything else in the film.

While Luca Guadagnino's plans to shoot his remake of "Suspiria," once formerly set to be directed by David Gordon Green, this winter didn't come to pass, the filmmaker still has the project high on his priority list. Currently doing the rounds for his latest, "A Bigger Splash," Guadagnino reveals that he'll be reteaming with two stars from that film to bring Dario Argento's horror classic to new life.
In a recent Q&A, the director said Dakota Johnson and Tilda Swinton will star in his redo, which will be set in Berlin in 1977, feature a score by famed classic composer John Adams (who collaborated with Guadagnino previously on "I Am Love"), and perhaps most intriguingly, will have strong shades of the work of Fassbinder. Yep, this definitely has our attention now.
There's still no word on when it might actually roll, and at the moment, Johnson is busy filming both "Fifty Shades Darker" and "Fifty Shades Freed" until June. But it sure sounds like Guadagnino has a strong vision in place for his "Suspiria" when it eventually shoots, which hopefully won't be too far away.

Chloe Moretz is set to star opposite Dakota Johnson, Tilda Swinton, and Mia Goth in Frenesy Film Company and Mythology Entertainment’s new retelling of the classic horror pic “Suspiria.”
“A Bigger Splash” helmer Luca Guadagnino is directing. Amazon Studios has acquired the worldwide distribution rights and is financing the production. Amazon could not be reached for comment.
David Kajganich is penning the script based on the pic written by Dario Argento and Daria Nicolodi.
Based on the 1977 film from Italian horror master Dario Argento, the movie follows a young ballet dancer who travels to a prestigious dance academy in Europe, only to discover it is a front for something far more sinister and supernatural amidst a series of increasingly grisly murders.
Suspiria is a Latin word for “sighs.”
The film will be produced by Frenesy Film Company, Mythology Entertainment, First Sun Films, and Memo Films. The producers on the project are Guadagnino, Brad Fischer, Kajganich, Francesco Melzi d’Eril, Gabriele Moratti, William Sherak, and Silvia Venturini Fendi. Mythology’s James Vanderbilt, First Sun’s Marco Morabito, Paul Deason, and Carlo Antonelli are exec producing.
WME Global and Carlos Goodman handled the deal with Amazon on behalf of the filmmakers.
Guadagnino, Johnson, and Swinton had been linked to the project for some time but with Moretz now signing on, the film has the greenlight and should start production this October in Italy and Hungary.
Moretz has been drawn to more adult fare following her breakout performance in adult action pic “Kick-Ass.” While plenty of those pics were non-genre based like “Hugo” and “The Equalizer,” the 19-year-old has done plenty of work in pics with horror or supernatural elements, including “Carrie”, “Let Me In,” and “Dark Shadows.”
She was most recently seen showing off her comedic chops in “Neighbors 2: Sorority Rising.”
Moretz, Johnson, Guadagnino and Mythology are all repped by WME. Swinton is repped by UTA and Hamilton Hodell.
Moretz is also repped by T Squared Entertainment.

I thought The Equalizer was a semi-decent action film. And Let Me In was a very effective horror film, although Let The Right One In is such a masterpiece and utterly destroys it.
I watched a movie with her awhile back called If I Stay and it was just absolutely horrendous in every way.

IMO if Let Me In were not a remake, I would probably have liked it more. Because it is a remake, I can't help but compare it to the original and it doesn't come close to the greatness of LTROI.
