Okay, you know the security guard, C.J.? At the end, when they get to the Marina, everyone gets out of the van and runs to the dock. Kenneth says "Come on CJ!", and CJ stays on the van, and says "Go man, I'll catch up!". Then when he realizes that the zombies are so close to the van that he can't get out, he says "Shit!". He ends up blowing up the van with himself and the zombies in it. Anyway....
Why did he not get out of the van? When Kenneth says "CJ, come on", why does CJ not get out? I normally don't sit and ponder over characters actions in movies, but CJ really died for no reason. He could have escaped, but chose to wait in the van for a few more seconds, ensuring that he would be trapped. Right before he died, he shouted out "****IN' FIGURES!"....but it almost seems as if he sealed his fate knowingly by not getting out of the van. What's the deal here?

He saved the rest of them. By staying, the zombies went after him because he was easy prey allowing his friends to book it. They bonded and the originally mean character has to do a 180 and take one for the team. Happens all the time in movies.

Maybe. I don't remember. Stupid limbo time between theatrical run and dvd release has depleated my memory of the film.

I thought when Ken told CJ to book it, CJ was already surrounded by zombies. That or CJ was trapped/injured in the truck and had no way to get out.
Eh, I haven't seen the movie in two months.

He took one for the team. simple as that. He wasn't bitten, but if they all ran the zombies would have easily gotten them all.
