Bad news for Spike Jonze fans??

Well for me it is. Although the article on this site is from October 2003, It looks like it's still going to happen (There is a very recent write up on this somwhere else but I can't remember where the hell I saw it).

I'm very disappointed in this, say what you will but this not what I wanted after Adaptation.

While I have faith in Spike Jonze as a director, I am worried about adapting a five minute kids story book into a feature length movie (Cat in the Hat, The Grinch).

I think this movie will reveal the fact that Spike Jonze is only good when Charlie Kaufman pens the script.

Exactly, a 300 page book into a full length movie..........It's also nice to hear that it will no longer be in CGI (thanks to Spike). I'm hoping he'll pull a Tarantino and do 5 movies before this one.

Do you think that's why he's doing this movie? Maybe taking the easy way out??

Good point.

I will gladly see any Spike Jonze film on opening day. He hasn't let me down yet.

I think it has a lot of potential, and I'd like to see how Jonze handles more family-oriented fare.

Spike Jonze can operate without Kaufman. Just give him some time.

So you saw the super-dee-duper ADVANCE screening of the film? You must have, since you're judging it before it's even been MADE.

No, it was a simple reply to a goofy comment.

And to answer your question completely, yes I am judging the movie before it's made just like WE ALL DO - whether it's been made yet or not - WE ALL JUDGE

Cool. I'll probably see it if it actually gets made. Lots of really short stories get made into perfectly good movies (Minority Report for one).

As a huge fan of Jonze's movies thus far I have to say I'll be there on opening day. Who cares if it is mainstream family fare, a good movie is a good movie, and with a fine director attached maybe it will become a great one. And if it gets made and does do well it will likely give Jonze the chance to make the movies he really wants to make with the studio support he deserves.

Well, Spike Jonze is a great director, so I have faith in him. But let's not BASH him until we see a clip or two from the actual film, all right?

Green Mile was not a short story.

No, but "The Body" was, which became "Stand By Me."

Speak for yourself. I have never judged a movie before it was made.

And to make up for this he's doing a horror movie with Charlie Kaufman.

I am happy for Spike. Where The Wild Things Are was one of my favorite stories from childhood.

one can have an opinion of a movie before it is made.
