How much money have you spent on Lord of the Rings?
Let's see. I went to the theater about 30x for the 3 movies. With drinks and popcorns = $350
DVDs = $110
Books = $150
Soundtracks = $40
Swords and Elendil helmet = $600
I'm sure I missed something like bookmarks, gas to the theater, posters.... minor things in the larger picture I guess.
So that's about $1250 and it's not over yet
.
I don't care what people say. It was worth every penny
.
Top that!

So far, a WHOPPING $0.00.
Not a fan of "fantasy" (except for SW, of course).
Will eventually spend about $25 on the trilogy later this year from CH, but that is just because the third one was "Best Picture", and I am a completist, for the most part.

FOTR: Theater = 3 x $9 = 27
TTT: Theater = 2 x $18 = 36
ROTK: Theater = 2 x $18 = 36
Minus a coupon I had for TTT... I don't rememer the value of the coupon, for ease, let's say $9
Subtotal: $90
FOTR: DVD $25
TTT: DVD $25
Will buy ROTK: DVD $25
Grand Total: $165.00
And, actually I bought a book set a few years ago, but don't remember the cost. I've also rented ROTK for PS2.

Theatrical editions: will be about 45.
Extended editions: will be about 90.
Theater trips: 8 trips at 7 dollars each, is about 56
Ouch.
I've had the books for a while---don't really remember how much I spent on those.

I'm not sure. I have a poor memory when it comes to things like this.
I saw all three movies at least once in the theater.
I have the 2-disc & EE versions for both FOTR & TTT, and I plan to get both for ROTK.

I have no idea what all the prices were:
I have all of the DVD's released, Theatrical, EE and Collectors sets
and will do the same for ROTK.
I already owned the novel, an illustrated version by John Howe and Alan Lee.
I purchased several books on the making of the films.
I purchased two after market DVD's by private firms about LOTR.
I purchased 3 movie posters.
I purchased a Shards of Narsil sword.
I saw each film in the theater twice.
I own the Hobbit DVD and the Bakshi LOTR DVD.

I bought the books 26 years ago for, let's say, 5 bucks. I saw FOTR at a second run theater for a dollar. TTT at another second run theater for $3, and ROTK at a regular theater for, I think, nine dollars.
So, that's a total of $18. That doesn't count various gifts for other people over the years.

30 for FOTR EE
25 for TT EE
Went to ROTK with someone that payed for me
and got the books as a gift
so 55$ so far. I'll probably buy both EE and Theatrical for ROTK so it will end up about 100$.
