^ or a few other Landis movies, for that matter. ;)
Cool inside joke -- will have to watch trailer again to catch this. |
The new full trailer is up. Looks pretty good! Can't wait.

This looks pretty awesome. I'm definitely looking forward to it, but I don't know if these trailers are going to draw in any new fans to the series...If I wasn't a fan of the first Hellboy, I don't think there is anything in here, aside from the cool visuals to get Joe Average to the theatre... I hope this makes some money!

Just saw the preview and think it looks like a lot of fun.
|
I loved the first one, this one seems to be great too !!
|
Wow, that does look fun.
|
Looks like a great ride, its funny what happens when the studio doesn't butt in and force characters on the audience so we can "relate"

I've been a HUGE fan of artist Wayne Douglas Barlowe for some time and I had no idea until a few days ago that he designed stuff for Hb I. However, as soon as I saw the Demon with the eyeless face and wings with multiple eyes in the Hb II trailer, I knew it was his work right away.
I love Barlowe's designs. |
Why are they releasing this just a week before Dark Knight ? Wont it impact the box office take ?
|
Can't wait. Saw the first one last year and was completely surprised with how much I liked it (probably due to how much I love Pan's Labyrinth). My friends and I should be there at midnight.
I posted this in the Hulk thread, but did anyone notice the nod to They Live in the trailer? Spoiler:

I can't see this having really long legs anyhow. It will do well, but DVD/BD will be where they make most of their money. |
For people in SoCal:
ArcLight Sherman Oaks Director Guillermo del Toro will be on site opening day, Friday (7/11), for an intro and Q&A to follow the 8:30pm show and an intro to the 11:30pm show https://www.arclightcinemas.com/ArcLight/faces/Home.jsp |

I love Barlowe's designs. At this point though I'd be curious to know how much he did on creature designs for HB/HB2 since Mignola's imagination is pretty broad as well - especially when it comes to mythological leanings. Too bad there's not more info on the site other than "concept artist". Although the demon dog in the first one does look a bit more like his work (he was "creature designer" for that movie). I'm also really excited by the expanded BPRD team - esp Johann Kraus. They even got the look pretty tight. Now maybe we'll get a cameo of Roger as well - the hillside/giant scene looked as though it might have a bit of promise (given the background from "almost colossus"). |

If you like spoilers, I highly recommend this book. It contains the script and tons of production art.

Will miss the midnight showing of this one, but plan on seeing it my first day off from work, most certainly.
Man, Selma Blair just gets hotter with age. |
100% Fresh at RT with 7 reviews in. I know it is early, but worth a mention nonetheless.

I saw a different Actor's Studio clip on NBC the other night, so I think there are a few of these going around...very funny.

info on the upcoming DVD:
http://www.homemediamagazine.com/new...ticle_ID=13105 "Hellboy II: The Golden Army hits theaters July 11, but director Guillermo del Toro is ahead of the game with his home video plans. “We start the DVD the day the screenplay gets approved,” del Toro said. “Javier Soto and I, we’ve been working on the DVD since day zero. He was there the first day we opened the offices. He has been documenting every step of the movie.” Fans of del Toro’s previous extensive DVDs can look forward to the same wealth of material for Hellboy II. “I like to let a very generous landscape come out for fans because I know the casual fan will never dwell into the DVD extras, really,” del Toro said. “But the kid who has no money to go to film school who wants to do short films, and do effects and do this and do that, can browse that the way I browsed Forry Ackerman’s Famous Monsters of Filmland or Starlog or Fangoria and listen and learn some of the craft.” The model for del Toro was his director’s cut of the first Hellboy film. “We have more content than we can shake a large stick at,” he said. “We we’re very proud of the Hellboy special-edition director’s cut, which was three discs, and we want to top it.” However, fans shouldn’t expect a longer cut of the sequel. “It’s the same as what I said in Blade II. All the deleted scenes are deleted because they were crappy. If you want to see them, that’s your problem. I think scenes that don’t work sometimes are good scenes or bad scenes, but they are taken out, and learning why they were taken out is very useful. As you direct and as you work, sometimes the most beautiful shot is the one that gets in the way of the storytelling, so you end up taking it out. I think it’s good schooling to know that. That crane that you spent half a day choreographing and beautiful Hitchcockian push-in, that’s the one you have to cut out. It’s nice for kids to learn that.” The only problem may be for collectors. Since Hellboy was a Sony Pictures release and Hellboy II comes from Universal Studios, a DVD set of the two films is unlikely. “I know, isn’t that a bitch to figure out?” he said. “I have the same concern, and I think the answer is we won’t unless someone strikes a deal that no one wants to make. I think that if at all possible I think the second and [eventual] third movie would get a package, but the first one won’t be there.”" |
