Troy did reasonably well (I dunno why but I figured it'd be a little higher than that. Though - it is R so I guess thats somewhat expected), Van Helsing slid about 66.8% from last Friday and looks ready to take about a 56% drop for this weekend, not too bad really. Mean Girls is holding on very well and looks to be that "sleep hit" 13 Going on 30 tried so hard to be.

I think Troy probably is doing as well as it possibly could, given its R rating 2:30 running time. Word-of-mouth is gonna see if it can hold up or falter. With mixed reviews though, I dunno. I just like the fact that it rhymes with "Roy".

Yeah, Not as big a friday as I was hoping (damn HSX!!)but it's doing well for an R film and that long. Next week shrek will of course take the weekend, but I don't see troy facing to much of a drop as Helsing did.

Very suprising. I thought this would be THE movie of the summer, but I'd be let down with this number. I know the running time is an outstanding mitigating circumstance, but it has zero competition right now, I just thought it would pull more. Combined with some lukewarm reviews, the summer movie crown is still wide open I guess.

Spiderman will easily take that crown. But I am let down by the numbers this will pull in this weekend.

I saw Troy, thought it was okay. Could have been better. Out of the whole cast, I think Eric Bana and Brian Cox were the best. Still may clear $200 million by the end of the summer.

I really don't think Troy will have any legs other than the normal summer far, but it should do alright when all is said and done. I mean $150-170 million for that kind of movie would be a success in my book. We'll see if it gets there

Long run time is a bit overrated as a factor. Most theaters just put it on more screens to compensate.

I actually think Troy will have the usual 50% drop next weekend. I think it will make from 125-135 max.

The R rating will hurt it and I do not think it is a movie people will go see over and over again.

I think that's quite a respectable opening, though we'll see how well it'll do in the long run. If it ends up with around 170 million or so I have no doubt it'll be considered a rousing success (remember, Gladiator topped out at 180 million itself). Also, the international box office on this flick I've got no doubt it going to double or triple that of the domestic take.

I never got the impression that there was serious blockbuster buzz on "Troy" but my guess for its opening BO take was around $55 million, though my gut was telling me it'd be around $48-$50 million due to lack of buzz from my observations from the past month in its marketing campaign. To me, it never got close to that 'I need to see that film' level of marketing or interest of true blockbuster films.

I figured Troy would be slowed down by it's run time and R rating but I thinkmit can still break 200 million by holding in at the 2,3 or 4 spot for the next ten weeks or so.

Next week is "Shrek 2" which opens on a Wednesday, and then "The Day After Tomorrow" opens in 2 weeks from now. It's going to get awfully crowded awfully quick...

Between those 3 movies, they will be eating up a lot of screens. Better catch some of the smaller flicks soon before they're pushed out.

Almost $17 million is not good? Most films would love to have that much the whole weekend. Troy got it on one day. Remember, most of Friday's money comes from night showing since normal people have to work all day. I'm betting Troy is close to or over $50 for the weekend.

I shorted the hell out of Troy in HSX when the shares were at $181. Hope that pays off.

See the updated numbers for Saturday? Methinks that there was an error:

Troy $169,400,000 (Saturday)

Someone added one too many zeroes at the end.

Troy made $10,000 less on Saturday. It should be higher. I think Troy is being sacked again

It looks like it will make under $50 million for sure. I am thinking it will be at 48 million now. antennaball will be sitting pretty with about a $40-$50 pershare profit at HSX.

I suspect this will mean it will be falling out of theaters fast.

Only 45 mil for Troy. I guess in todays world of inflated expectations, it's a flop...

Troy made $45,615,000 for the weekend. I really enjoyed the film, so I wish it would have made more.
