What's up with the dubs in Die Hard 2?

I saw DH2 on TBS the other day, and it seemed like every other line Bruce Willis spoke was dubbed. Quite poorly, in fact, and often out of sync (or simply not matching what Bruce said during the scene). I don't recall the film being heavy with profanity, so what's up with that?

There certainly is a lot of profanity in it. The TV dubs for this are hilarious.

You're right, the dubbing is bad. I won't watch those kinds of movies on TV if I have the DVD. You don't get the full effect of the movie unless you hear the damn profanity!

I'm not even sure if that is Willis's voice heard for the alternate dialogue in the TV version? It sounds ridiculously off. Either that or he just couldn't talk in character when looping these lines.

In the dub on the original, I think it's "my friend".

Oops, I meant to say "I thought." My friend makes more sense. Was Mellon Farmers substituted in some other TV dub?

Mr. Falcon, Mellon Farmer. Depends on the station.

The "Mr. Falcon" is the more sophisticated one, they actually change the name of "Good Times" guy to Mr. Falcon, so the line actually makes some sense.

No it isn't Bruce Willis.

Could be anything. The Mr Flickter reference was from when I was in NYC back in 2000, and watched Die Hard 2 on TV in my hotel room. I switched on the TV and saw the airplane sequence, thought great - a good movie...

then he said, Yippe Kay Yay Mister Flickter. I thought it was a German dub - on a foriegn station. Had a good laugh when I realised that it was a US dub on network TV!

Thank god for original cuts on DVD!
