In America --GREAT!

Ok, this movie is coming out on DVD soon and I wanted to start a new thread. Because I absolutely LOVED this movie and can't wait to watch it again. I enjoyed it immensely.

I just saw it a little over a week ago in a second run theater and I agree with you, it's a wonderful film (although I would have nominated Jennifer Connelly and Peter Sarsgaard over the Oscar nominees from this movie). It's on my "to buy" list.

Absolutely! I saw this about a month ago. Several months after it came out and a few weeks after the Oscars. What a great great great film. DEFINITELY should have been nominated for Best Picture and Director too. Deeply moving film. I cannot recommend it enough.

I made a blind buy with this DVD and I am sure glad that I did - excellent film. One of last year's finest efforts!

Yup.

I saw it in the theater and loved it.

I thought the scene where
Spoiler:
the dad put all of his money down on the table to win the stuffed animal
was pretty intense and showed how much he loved his family.

No kidding - I just finished watching it and I haven't had a movie make me cry like that in a long, long time.

A truly beautiful piece of filmmaking. I loved it - now that was a movie worthy of the Academy Award for Best Picture.

Samantha Morton never ceases to amaze me. The older Bolger sister was quite good, too. As were Paddy Considine and Djimon.

I agree that it was a great movie.

I disagree that
Spoiler:
it showed how much he loved his family. In fact, I thought it was very reckless and could have placed his family in a very bad situation if he lost. I loved the scene though and I am glad it turned out the way it did.

Yes, she does. But this no surprise.

What really got me was the brilliant performance by Paddy Considine. I've never seem him in anything before, but I'll be looking out for him now.

Even though I thought this movie was terrific, I still think Djimon getting an Oscar nomination was a load of crap.

Just saw this last night. I thought it was an amazing movie, definitly one of my favorites of the year. There were some scenes that were a little unrealistic, but overall a great flick and worth a blind buy!!!
