The rapid 'acting' decline of Kate Hudson

Saw the trailer for her latest film: "Raising Helen" and thought "why or why Kate?" after two excreable 2003 films: "Alex & Emma" and "How to Lose a Guy in 10 Days" - she needs to find a new agent or something... a great promising acting cred in "Almost Famous" and now these, she is seriousily getting typecast in a real hurry.

I never got why people were so ga-ga over her in Almost Famous to begin with. She looks like her mom, so what?

I thought she was really good in Almost Famous... and that's all. Beginners Luck maybe?

FYI: How to Lose a Guy wound up grossing over $100 million. That doesn't mean it's good, or that she did a nice job in it, merely that she has some sort of drawing power.

I thought Almost Famous was her best work, and she did a respectable job in the low budget About Adam as well. I think that like all actresses she had the choice of either taking the serious route or going Hollywood. She obviously took Hollywood.

i think a lot of the reason her Penny Lane character was so good was the way it was written. add those beautiful eyes and it just worked

She was good in the otherwise horrible "Le Divorce".

I agree that her movie choices haven't been the greatest. Though as a poster stated above, I wouldn't count How to Lose a Guy in 10 Days as a negative, as an actress having a commercial success like that is a very good thing.

But yeah, I think she has much more potential than just romantic comedy fodder.

Just a little more proof you can't go through life stoned to the gills all the time.

In spite of myself, I found myself really enjoying How to Lose a Guy in 10 days. I don't think her career is in a downward spiral yet.

Le Divorce was a very baad baad movie. I agree, she needs to do better in deciding what movies to make.

Maybe, but the poster for the movie with her and Naomi Watts put me in the mood for a "sandwich" if you know what I mean.

She was fine in Almost Famous, but like someone else said - it was well written which made her come off alot better.

She really doesn't have much of a track reccord for picking critically-acclaimed films:

She was just amazing in Almost Famous -- the scene where
Spoiler:
she learns the band has traded her for a case of beer
was just a little marvel of acting on her part. But I haven't seen her in anything I've liked since. I rented "How To Lose A Guy" and couldn't even watch more than half of it, it was so lame and predictable.

I don't know about that. Cameron Crowe could have gotten that reaction by telling her that the Craft Service table just ran out of Foie Gras.

Hopefully, she will mature as she gets older as will her choices of scripts, after all she just turn 25 on the 19th.

Cheers

I agree. Her acting in Almost Famous was okay, but nothing great.

She actually turned down the role of Mary Jane in Spider-Man. Bet she wishes she hadn't.

Well, in defense of Kate Hudson, helping to break up the Black Crowes must have been a tough gig. She needs to take a breat from serious acting after a job like that.

I've never been that impressed with her anyway. My fiancee really enjoys her work, but I could care less. Plus, I've never really cared for her mother either. Come to think of it, I haven't even missed her.

I wish I would have known this ahead of time. I let the wife pick a rental and she made me watch this today. I stopped paying attention after the first hour. The only thing going for it was Hudson in lingerie.

Actually, I never liked the Mary Jane character in the movie. I like Kirsten Dunst as an actress. But I thought that Mary Jane had little to no redeeming qualities. She was merely the object of affection.

I doubt it would have helped Kate Hudson's career. She'd still probably do most of the other movies she's been offered lately.

I caught How to Lose a Guy in 10 Days last night on Cinemax.

Not a good movie.

I did love her in Almost Famous....but she's going downhill lately.

What exactly is wrong with "Raising Helen"? Aren't you making up your mind on how bad the film is before even seeing it? Now granted, I didn't think it looked like anything with much weight to it, but I always find myself enjoying the trailer and Kate Hudson in particular. I will probably catch that one sometime in its run. Nothing wrong at all with Kate Hudson's acting ability in my opinion.

How to catch a guy wasn't a bad movie and Almost Famous was a jerkfest for old farts reliving their 60's and 70's drug days. A totally overrated flick.

Kate Hudson is doing fine. Her new movie Raising Helen looks great and I predict she has many more winners up her sleave.

I think they digitally enhanced her butt for the Raising Helen poster. My local theater has a giant cardboard cutout for the movie, and she has a J-Lo size butt on that thing.
