So what happened to the Heath Ledger/Orlando Bloom: " Ned Kelly" film
I know this got a very limited release, here in the states (too limited in my opinion), why wasn't there a more aggressive roll out of the film? I would assume that at this point it's headed for video - ?
It only got a wide release in Australia.
Yeah, I'm not sure what happened with this film either. They probably could have opened it wider in the U.S. and made a decent amount of money.
Actually,
It's opens today at the new Majestic Theatre in Silver Spring, MD |
It opened on a couple of dozen screens in early April, basically got pretty bad reviews, and did very slow business - not the sort of reaction that would prompt a wider release, I guess.
This movie is horrible imo, don't feel too bad that you haven't seen it yet.
I thought Entertainment Weekly gave it a least a B - and EW reviewers are a fickle bunch anyway.
...FWIW: here's a British POV... and one from Iceland (two stars out of four)... and a review of the R2 DVD...
. . . :o . . . |
Ned Kelly must be one of those films where the trailer looks magnificent, but the film is actually mediocre. The last time I remember that happening was with Highwaymen.
I wanted to see Highwaymen but the movie was gone in days, didnt even open near NY. Ned Kelly is ok, like Young Guns with some better actors. Naomi Watts and Bloom are really on the side in this one, especially Watts, Rush is great as the villain.

i thought the ned kelly movie wasnt bad, the aussies i know seemed to enjoy it
No-one I know particulary liked the movie.
