Carrie-Anne Moss joins M:I-3 cast

LOS ANGELES (Hollywood Reporter) - Carrie-Anne Moss -- no stranger to high-profile action franchises after her turns in the three "Matrix" movies -- has signed on to "Mission: Impossible 3," which is aiming for an August start date.

Moss will take a leading role in the sequel, which will see Tom Cruise reprise his role as secret agent Ethan Hunt. His Paramount-based Cruise/Wagner Prods. has recently been scouting locations in Ghana and Berlin.

Emmanuelle Beart and Thandie Newton played the female leads in 1996's "Mission: Impossible" and 2000's sequel "M:I-2," respectively.

Moss is in production on an untitled feature about a disaffected teenager starring Jamie Bell ("Billy Elliot"). That project is shooting in Valencia, north of Los Angeles.

I hope she continues her tough-girl persona from the Matrix films instead of becoming a helpless damsel like Thandie Newton.

Edit: just realized this was already posted.

We could use a hotter chick. Still looking forward to another MI movie though

Early script reviews reveal that she gets fatally wounded in the first 15 minutes, and the rest of the movie is her delivering a dying monologue to Tom Cruise.

Supposedly Philip Seymour Hoffman is going to be the villian and the plot centers around an assination to kill a world leader.

Kal-El 04-20-04 10:23 AM

Great. Fugly Newton isn't coming back. Let's hope they also bring back the team format from the first movie.

Get Me Coffee 04-20-04 10:24 AM

I dont' get it! Why do people think she's soooo hot?

yecul 04-20-04 10:26 AM

Tom Cruise can do better than her. :)

I'd like to see 3 be closer to 1 than 2. More spy stuff than standard action flick.

I agree 100%. The way she's aged in recent years she should be cast as Cruise's mom.
