I remember that my buddy noticed the Kaboom cereal box...we were the only ones laughing.

POSSIBLE SPOILERS....

It was like the table scene in Spiderman when the Green Goblin is about to cut the turkey he has this halairious look on his face just before he sees Spidey's cut...that was priceless!!!

Rypro 525 04-15-04 11:21 AM

anyone notice that when "the battle without humanity" song is playing, and the crazy 88 slowly begins their walk, you can see Tarantino in the background as a cameo

QuiGonJosh 04-15-04 11:26 AM

oh I aint seen that...gonna have to watch that bit again...got any specifics...like where and when it is?

That's the first I'm hearing of this! I'll have to check it out.

Rypro 525 04-15-04 11:57 AM

you can tell its him because oh his hairline and he has the walk of his Mr. Brown character in reservoir dogs.

majorjoe23 04-15-04 12:25 PM

The Death Lists are different colors because I'm pretty sure they're different lists. If you look, the lists are numbered. Unless the V refers to the number of people on this list, but I'm pretty sure one of them was a IV.

I just figured she was obsessed with making the list over and over again.

Rypro 525 04-15-04 12:27 PM

isn't it supposed to be 6 on the list
Spoiler:
veretta green, go go, o-ren, elle, budd, bill

majorjoe23 04-15-04 12:37 PM

I don't think the second person you named was on the list. She wasn't at the wedding, she was just O-Ren's employee. If she was on the list, The Bride wouldn't have given her the option to back out.

Not only that, but The Bride gives her the opportunty to escape.

Dr. DVD 04-15-04 04:05 PM

I wonder how the Bride would have reacted if one of the people on her took their own life in front of her to deny her vengeance? What if the method was a bomb that would be detonated the minute she showed up at the house?

That is reason enough for one more viewing.

I can't wait for Friday.

One other thing: after all of the carnage the bride caused at the hospital, Tokyo, and Vernita's, wouldn't the cops be out looking for her all over the place?

That's one of the things that I love about the world of Tarantino, the relative lawlessness of it's inhabitants. With the exception of the cops in Reservoir Dogs (which weren't even regarded as people), the police are barely even seen, much less used to enforce actual laws!

Of course, in Kill Bill, not only is it a lawless world but it is also a world where samurai swords are commonplace (so much so that they have holders for them on airplanes), so I guess suspension of disbelief really has to be the order of the day.

I agree....QT does do this kind of stuff all the time....he keeps you on your toes and shows the affects of other events on events you may have seen already.....its cool

In Japan. :D

Ok, I guess I just didn't remember that line when I first saw the US version. I guess it really didn't register, because nothing happened to Sofie after that, compared to the Japanese cut.

Yep, the scene switches back to the closeup shot of Sofie at the hospital as The Bride yells the line.
Now, after watching the US DVD, I see that, but if memory serves me correctly, in the Japanese cut, the scene does not switch back to the CU of Sofie during that line. Instead you just hear her say the line, grab Sofie's arm and cut it off (I saw it back in November, so hopefully I remember this right).

I think that was supposed to just be decoration on the plane. I could be wrong.

Rypro 525 04-15-04 09:09 PM

if you watch the credits, you might notice that Sonny Chiba also got a credit for "samauri sword guidence"

I don't think so, if you look at the Japanese airport scene (I guess it was supposed to be Narita, but it didn't really look like it), you can see fellow travellers carrying around katanas as well. I think that in Tarantino's world, many people in Japan walk around carrying them. That's be cool.

This is incorrect. I just watched the scene carefully, and Tarantino is nowhere to be seen.

Rypro 525 04-15-04 09:55 PM

maybe its a lookalike, since that man in the way back (he's in focus) looks an awful like him

The seat next to Uma has an empty sheath. All the motorcycles had them as well.

Groucho 04-15-04 11:17 PM

Just double-checked...there are in fact other people in the airport causally carrying around katanas...it's subtle but it's there.

The only motorcycles with them on them I saw belonged to the Crazy 88.

Actually, it is kinda "Believable". Recall that Uma (or was it the dead girl) who said that her specialty is knives... therefore, she wasn't good with a gun :)

Dr. DVD 04-16-04 08:15 AM

Lastbade: I think it was Uma's character who was supposed to be the knife expert.

Interesting note: while she wasn't officially part of the squad and Budd was supposed to be one of the five DIVAS, Sofie is a French chick, who if added to the group would be identical to QT's Foxforce Five group.

Groucho 04-16-04 08:18 AM

Is that Julie Dreyfus on the Red Apple Cigarettes poster in the airport?
