Does anyone remember the Pipi Longstocking movies?
Does anyone remember these films?
They were live action adaptations of Pipi Longstocking. I'd hazard a guess that they were made in the 1970's. They were dubbed into english and growing up in the Los Angeles area they were broadcast on our local network (channel 5) on Sunday mornings hosted by Tom Hadden.
Doea anyone know anything about these films? I presume they were made in Sweden. Are they available in R2?
And a releated question: What was the name of Pipi's monkey?

I remember seeing part of one a long time ago, Pipi took a broom and started spinning around in the back of some sort of cart and was able to create enough air thrust to lift herself, the cart and two other kids off the ground and fly.
The science nerd in me was completely disgusted and I've always shuddered at the mention of the name since then.

All right is was Tommy and Anika and I found out over at IMDb that the monkey was named Mr. Nilson (appropriate for a Swedish movie).
Her horse I recall was named Old Man.
And apparently these movies were cobled together from a TV series and the first 6 episodes are avialable on DVD (nobody told me).

How could I forget Pipi? And yes, growing up in Los Angeles, it was very hard to miss the constant broadcasting on KTLA 5.
Ah Pipi, I think I trace my obession with red heads back to growing up seeing her on tv.

Yes! My younger brother and I watched one (I believe it was the last one) over and over again during the late 80s/early 90s. I remember LOVING this movie, but for the life of me I cannot remember a single thing about them, other than the fact that Pippi had pigtails and that there was a brother and sister whom she hung around with.
One day I'll revist this childhood favorite.

Yes, I grew up with the Pippi-books by Astrid Lindgren, which were made into a TV-series in 1969 and later featured film. As far as I know there is a R1 version of the TV-series..
Amazon.com (Pippi)
The R2 version of the film and TV-series does not have English subs...
Pippi search at Discshop.se (no translation)
The title of the film is: Pippi Långstrump på de sju haven
Ah, the song as went, Här kommer Pippi Långstrump tjolla hej tjolla ho tjolla hoppsan sa...
Monkey's name Herr Nilson, as mentioned above Mr. trans. Herr.
Sorry, for the blabber, but this is a nostalgic moment for me.
Cheers
