I hope when Tom Cruise inevitably foils Philip Seymour Hoffman's evil plans, Philip says "That's that"

While I will see this movie, I will be going for Philip Seymour Hoffman and the action, not for how cool Tom Cruise acts. In all honesty, I see this being the lowest grossing one of the series due to a major public dislike of Cruise, as almost everyone I know says they think he is a jerk.
Also, I liked the teaser with Hoffman taunting cruise better.

Looks decent - might be worth a trip to the big screen to see.

We saw this 3 times this weekend at the movies. Every time it came on...someone laughed or yawned or made fun of it.

Tom has turned into one big joke.

Hasn't he done that same "kick backwards" thing in every movie at this point??

It's kind of sad how the general public won't see this just because of how Tom Cruise acts in public. The guy is very good at choosing roles, his career has been consistently good.

His only really crappy film in the past decade is MI2.

I would agree, although War of the Worlds did fine despite what people may have thought of Tom Cruise. Seems the hatred for him may be overblown. Besides, having never met the guy, I can't say what kind of person he is. It doesn't make sense to judge him off of a few select incidents, nor does it really make sense to not see a film based on what you perceive on person is like out of thousands that worked on the film.

What's funny is, until recently, he was always known as one of the nicest and most generous people in Hollywood.

Also, anyone that thinks people won't go see this because of Tom Cruise being the star is out of their mind or just plain stupid.

WOTW had a tough time making money with Crazy Tom.

Oh c'mon, tell me you didn't mark out when *he* gets a clip unloaded into him by Dougray Scott's character.

I find a different reaction, I dont know why you would yawn or something. I dont think Tom has become a big joke, movie will do good and his movies have always been great. Hes a great actor. People make a big deal out of nothing.

I don't really see why people care about how he acts in real life. He's a frickkin actor. I don't care if he's the biggest tool in the world if I like his acting/movies.

Frankly, I've at least liked and often loved all of his movies, so I'll be seeing this.

See, you just said it. He's an actor, his job is to make us believe that he can become Ethan Hunt, or Joe Schmoe or whoever. If his real life antics lead us to dislike him so much that we can no longer buy him as the character he is supposed to be, the movie is done.

The thing is, for every person that is turned off because of his real life antics, I think there are far more who don't give a shit. He turns out good movie, MI3 will have lots of stuff blowing up...

It'll make money. I'm going to see it. I don't care that he's a wacko scientologist.

perhaps I should rephrase then. M:I 1 used the masks the right way, in the shadows, and not perfect looking. M:I 2 used them unrealistically, in plain day, looking perfectly like the person.

BTW, wasn't M:I the show about the team of special agents, not just one person? I think the films left the TV show behind long ago.
